West coast online magazine Streets Connect sat down with New Jersey hiphop group 050 Boyz recently in the wake of the release of their album “Everything 050” and their subsequent appearances on the Rap is Outta Control Show with DJ Eclipse and LFHQ Show with DJ Premier.

In what is a wide ranging interview, the trio of Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK discuss many aspects regarding their careers. They address their history with Treach from Naughty by Nature and DoItAll from Lords of the Underground, their involvement with the Garden State Greats movement and how this proactive representation of New Jersey remains a core principle today.

They then speak about the recording process of the album and how their sound, which has roots in the Golden era of the 90’s, is enjoying something of a revival and developing a new generation of fans.

Their thoughts on how the traditional hip hop culture is represented today are addressed before moving on to subjects such as their renowned live performances, the current scene in New Jersey and their future plans for their label 050 Entertainment.

This was the second visit to the station for the group who had appeared previously on DJ Eclipse’s “Rap Is Outta Control show where they performed this freestyle together with Boston’s N.B.S.

Rescheduled from a couple of weeks ago when the station had to come offline temporarily, New Jersey’s Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince Ak – aka 050 Boyz – will be dropping into Brooklyn’s GID Radio studios this Friday September 25th to appear as guests on the Bodega Cold Kutz show.

Hosts DJ Joe Bodega, Jay Drilla and J2ThaMar have had many top names through their doors and often film the show which is then uploaded to youtube shortly afterwards. The show broadcasts live from 5pm – 8pm EST and you can listen online at www.gidradio.com

In another slight change, the group were then due to appear on DJ Premier’s LFHQ show on Sirius XM later the same evening, however as Premo has a last minute committment elsewhere, it has been delayed for just one week until Friday October 2nd.

The Brick City / Illtown trio are still cinducting interviews with written media on the back of the release of their album “Everything 050” last month. On 30th August, Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince Ak – aka 050 Boyz – took the trip over to NYC with Treach from Naughty by Nature to appear as guests on DJ Eclipse’s Rap Is Outta Control Show on Sirius XM.

Other guests on the show were Boston’s N.B.S., and after the main interview sections, Eclipse got a cypher going with the members of the two groups. The Beeshine were on hand to film it, and the resulting video went live online today

The location of Clinton Avenue between Bergen Street and Osborne Terrace was specifically chosen as it is where in August last year five people were killed in a gang related incident.

The event runs a full 24 hours from 6pm Friday to 6pm Saturday, and will also see performances by Rakim, DJ Marley Marl, DAS EFX, DJ Evil Dee, Smif n Wessun and many more. If you’re in the area, it’s not to be missed
