West London’s Mystro has just released his long awaited debut album “Mystrogen” on his own “Don’t Bizznizz label, afforded a front page feature on iTunes last week.

A long respected figure in the UK hip hop scene for over a decade, he’s become well known in recent times for being the first to provide a “Fire In The Booth” for BBC 1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth, helped kick start the online series “Rapper Tag UK” and has provided the BBC with the annual “UK Rap Up” for the past 3 years.

Renowned for his mix of wordplay, punch lines, social commentary and humour, the album released on 10th September reflects his full range of skills. Production contributors include Black Einstein, fLako, Show N Prove and Firstman with features provided by Homeboy Sandman, Junior Reid and Lloyd Brown.

The latest off the album is “That Rush”, produced by former beatsmith for The Creators Si Spex

With his new album “God Save the King (Proper English Version)” having dropped in August, Ohio’s Copywrite took time out recently to speak with Ayara Pommells for Stupid Dope

They discuss the concept behind the album and the differences between the “Proper English Version” and the version released to the US market, the differences and similarities in the US and UK hip hop scenes, and his new Mhz album “Megacy” – also recently covered in this month’s Clash Magazine “Rapture & Verse” column.

He speaks on how he rates artists such as Rhyme Asylum, Lady Sovereign, Radiohead, The Snowgoons, Slick Rick and Joe Budden and his views on female emcees Jean Grae, Kreayshawn, Eternia, MC Lyte, Lauryn Hill & Roxanne Shante

The new Mhz album “Megacy” will be dropping over the next few months and should coincide with a planned tour of Europe & The UK in early 2013.

With stellar production from Marco Polo, Bronze Nazareth, Stu Bangas, Curtiss King, Jaguar Skills & Kount Fif, Megahertz founder member Copywrite is on top form throughout.

There’s been huge international public & media interest in the release over the past few months, not least due to the quality of artists also featured from both sides of the Atlantic. This has seen MC’s the calibre of Akala & Sonny Seeza, S.A.S. & Sean Price, Genesis Elijah & Royce da 5 9, Iron Braydz & Crooked I, Bigz Flygerian & Inspectah Deck, Melanin 9 & Killah Priest and many more stand shoulder to shoulder on various tracks with further contributions from the likes of Evidence, Mystro, Roc Marciano and Torae.

The final official video taken from the album is the Jason Rose produced “Ghost in the Machine” which features London’s Context, currently riding high on the back of winning MTV’s “Brand New Unsigned” artist competition and playlisting on BBC Radio 1

Shot in Columbus Ohio and Hammersmith London, its a fitting finale to celebrate the launch of an exceptional album. Directed by John Hendrickse of Dirty Media London in the UK and Sean Grevencamp in the United States. Directors of Photography were Spaceship “Despa” Robinson (Despa Stay Fresh) in the Uk and Sean Grevencamp in the United States. Copywrite is working on a new Megahertz album and putting together plans to tour Europe in early 2013
