The latest release from the newly relaunched hip hop label New Dawn Records, the third within the space of a month

The brainchild of producer Kruze, Underground Cartel is an international hip hop collaboration featuring artists from the USA, UK, Europe & Africa, celebrating the traditions of global hip hop culture and unity.

Taken from the “Sapientia EP” out May 17th, “Evolution” has London’s Creamo, Croatian rapper Magellano, Brandon J Atlas from the States and the late great Primo Brown from legendary Italian crew Cor Veleno go head to head over a driving beat fuelled by heavy kicks and Dabke percussion, while the UK’s Rapstation host and MC Mr CRF trades bars with Zimbabwe’s Dumi Right on “Diggin’ Deeper”, a funked up banger laced with turntablism and classic soul.

Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and producer Frost Gamble released their collaborative album “Black Beach” on Friday May 26th through 22 Entertainment.

The latest review comes from US online “Triple OT”, a site with a focus on music and basketball. The appraisal is in depth, an appreciation of the production styles which draw from the finest tradtions of J Dilla & Premo, the choice samples used and the soundscape this provides Zo’s impassioned rhymes.

There is an acknowledgement of the themes addressed, including issues which gave rise to the Black Lives Matter movement, a sense of identity, the importance of family, aspiration and an undetered feeling of hope.

The review reflects the sense of purpose and musical approach well, and can be read in full HERE

Including guest featured artists KXNG Crooked (Slaughterhouse), Sadat X (Brand Nubian), Guilty Simpson (Random Axe), Boldy James, Tone Chop & Young Bleed, the album is available from a variety of digital stores including iTunes, Amazon & Spotify.

A very rare opportunity to witness jazz drummer and hip hop producer Karriem Riggins perform in London in what is his first ever solo show in London.

With production credits for work with a whole range of well known hip hop artists including Talib Kweli, Slum Village, The Roots, Common and J Dilla under his belt, the jazz drummer has also performed with Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson and Donald Byrd to mention but a few.

He has also turned his hand to a bit of turntablism, and brings his DJ set to England for the show he calls Blend, so called as he mashes together his favourite jazz, soul, funk and hip hop sounds for a unique experience. It’ll get lively…..!!!!
