Contributor Ethan Everton spoke recently with Kansas based MC Matt Maddox ahead of the release of his sophomore album Righteous Fury on the 25th February

London’s Guestlist Network Magazine interviews Matt Maddox

London’s Guestlist Network is both a monthly newspaper and online magazine covering a wide range of musical genres, providing news, reviews and features on new music artists and releases as well as covering the live circuit, concerts, clubs and events happening around the country.

Their writer Matt Watkins took time out recently to speak with Kansas based MC Matt Maddox as he prepares to release his sophomore album Righteous Fury on 25th February.

They discuss his origins in Long Beach California and his earliest work as part of the international crew Guerilla War Tactix, the writing process involved with the album and the range of producers and featured artists such as Nemesis, C Lance, Sicknature, Vanderslice, Skammadix, Tragedy Khadafi, Reef The Lost Cauze, King Magnetic and Adlib, his touring plans for the year which will take in both coasts, Canada, UK, Europe, Japan and Australia and his thoughts on other aspects of the music industry – artists he rates, life as an independent artist, the representation of hip hop today and much more

New Single – Matt Maddox ft Tragedy Khadafi “Street Art”

Now based in Kansas, Cali rapper and ex Guerilla War Tactix member Matt Maddox is hitting the ground running in 2014

With his first solo album in 4 years “Righteous Fury” due to release on February 25th, he will also be busy on the road. Scheduled to appear at SXSW, tour with Slaughterhouse and further plans to tour the UK and Europe all by the late Spring, he’s kicking the year off with the release of the new single “Street Art”.

Produced by Skammadix with quality turntablism courtesy of fellow Red Phone labelmate TMB, Maddox is joined on the mic by Queensborough veteran Tragedy Khadafi, as they take it in turns to verbally tear into the beat like knives through butter.

The album also includes features from King Magnetic, Reef The Lost Cauze, Swann and the UK’s Edd Bundy, with further production supplied by a host of names including Snowgoons’ Sicknature, C Lance (Jedi Mind Tricks), Vanderslice, Nemesis and many more.
