New AA side single released today through New Dawn Records, the third to be taken from London producer Ramson Badbonez’ new album “Lead by Example” out on August 27th.
“Black Hole Cypher” is an outstanding posse cut featuring a “Who’s Who” of the UK scene. Relentless business from King Kashmere, Truemendous, MysDiggi, Micall Parknsun, Joker Starr, Gee Bag, Confucius, Jehst, Phoenix da Icefire and Ramson himself all piling in with fierce bars over a high octane beat.
Switching gears, “Rap to the Future” resonates to a classic west coast beat as Dizzy Dustin (Ugly Duckling / Blown Celeb), Cali’s Mr Hooper and Canada’s Moka Only evoke the sights and sounds of hip hop back in the day, with exquisite cuts provided by last year’s IDA scratch champion Kompoze.
Originally established in 1996 and relaunched in 2019, hip hop label New Dawn Records have packed a lot into the past 12 months.
The most recent development announced today is the launch of their new Bandcamp platform where, to begin with, their entire digital catalogue has just been made available to download.

Some of the label’s classic original releases made available in digital format for the first time more recently can also now be downloaded including joints “Y’All Under Surveillance”, “Meltdown” and “Skitzophonetic” by hip hop crew Belles in Monica, together with DMC finalist and turntablist supreme DJ Krash Slaughta’s remixes of the groups tracks via the “18 Showdown EP”
In addition, the extremely rare and unique international project “Sapientia” by Underground Cartel has been made available. A collaboration of artists from around the world including El Meswy (Spain), Swiss Precise (KBH, Blown Celeb, Long Beach), the late Primo Brown of Cor Veleno (Italy), Rapstation presenter Mr CRF (UK), Beni Blanco of French crew Originaire du Sud, Zimbabwe’s Dumi Right, Bleek Wonder (Holland), female rappers MC’s Marya (Italy) and Lockness (NYC) plus many more came together to represent the four corners of the hip hop world on the one record.

New video out today by Brick City’s lyrical marksman Tru Trilla, “Real Rap” featuring fellow 050 Boyz group member Prince Ak is taken from his album “God of Barz” released through New Dawn Records on May 29th.
Filmed in downtown Newark just before the turn of the year, the pair trade verses over a hard edged gritty beat produced by Barcelona’s Sumerio Square. Set on a verbal warpath, the seasoned veterans deliver punchline salvos of hard bars against weak representations and pale imitations in equal measure, dismantling defences with the ease of prize fighters earning stripes for their home State. Rapper and producer Az Izz, formerly of legendary New Jersey group The Outsidaz, returns with the self produced AA side single “Ghetto” b/w “Crazy” out today, the third from his new album “Dopeliss” releasing through New Dawn Records on July 3rd.
Together with Pacewon, Young Zee, Rah Digga and D.U., the Brick City crew were noted for their work with The Fugees, Wu Tang and a new emerging force from Detroit at the time, D12. More recently pursuing a career in tv, film and sports music production, Az marks his arrival back with a first major solo offering in several years which blends the sounds of hip hop through the ages.
On “Ghetto”, the classic sound of the east coast prevails through guitar hooks and blaring brass on journeys to the gritty underbelly of the city, bars portraying street tales from the hood in the daily battle between survival and aspiration. Meanwhile on “Crazy”, aptly named for these times, heavy kicks and electronica fuel the adrenaline of a chaotic Brick City ride accompanied by fellow group member D.U.
Brick City rapper Tru Trilla released his much anticipated new album “God of Barz” through New Dawn Records on Friday May 29th 2020.
Rammed full of gritty rhymes, punchline bars and raucous lyricism, it is reminiscent of hip hop’s halcyon era, aided and abetted by guest featured artists Fly Kwa, Confucious, Middy Murdock and fellow 050 Boyz group member Prince Ak.
The album also benefits from the different production styles provided by Chicago’s DNA Beatz, the UK’s Chat One, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square and award winning Clinton Place (aka Jamal Nueve) originally of New Jersey and now based in Los Angeles. The sum parts contributing to the greater whole, pure energy being the common denominator.
A couple of in depth reviews have just been published by SoFlo Sound and Triple OT which articulate and reflect the overall concept and acknowledge the quality on offer.

Planting a flag for both the Garden State and the classic east coast sound, the veteran rapper and Lords of the Underground affiliate has concocted an immense piece of work, rammed full of passionate bars, skillful wordplay and intelligent rhymes. Newark natives Middy Murdock, Fly Kwa, Confucious and fellow 050 Boyz member Prince Ak are the featured artists, intensifying the energy with their own gritty lyricism.
The production brings extra layers and dynamics courtesy of Chicago’s DNA Beatz, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square, the UK’s Chat One and award winning Clinton Place (aka Jamal Nueve), originally of New Jersey and now resident in Los Angeles. Bonus cut “That All U Got?” invokes the spirit of Ali & Foreman leaving industry machinations slumped in the corner, towel thrown. The art of storytelling has returned on a release spanning all eras.
Taken from the “Natsukashii EP” out June 7th, the second in their ‘Lazarus’ series following April’s “Y’All in Meltdown EP”.
