Last week, Edinburgh based journalist Peter Johnstone chopped it up with Detroit rapper ZotheJerk ahead of the release of his new album “Black Beach” on May 26th.

Produced by Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble, originally from NY State, it also features Sadat-X, Boldy James, Guilty Simpson, KXNG Crooked, Young Bleed, Tone Chop & more.

The resultant feature published by long running UK online “British Hip Hop” begins with a summary review of the album, noting its themes of relating the current experience of “black America” through skilled lyricism and storytelling, while in one of the stand out tracks “Keep Me Safe” representing the importance of providing strong paternal role models for the next generation.

The article finishes with a one to one interview where Zo touches upon his past, the main messages of the new album, working with Frost Gamble and progression from the underground scene.

Long Beach MC Matt Maddox, now based in America’s Mid West, sat down recently with UK online hip hop magazine HHK Mag to discuss his forthcoming album Righteous Fury which releases 25th February on Red Phone Records / Seven 13 Music

He speaks on the process of putting it together, working with producers C Lance, Nemesis, Skammadix, Vanderslice & Sicknature, as well as arranging features by Reef the Lost Cauze, Tragedy Khadafi, King Magnetic and the UK’s Edd Bundy, and his touring plans for the year ahead
