050-Rawroots

New Jersey trio Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK – aka 050 Boyz – release their first official album “Everything 050” on 4th August.

Between them they have many years in the local hip hop scene, whether with previous groups or solo projects, and were heavily involved with the Garden State Greats movement of 2004, a concept devised by Treach (Naughty by Nature) & Fam (Rottin Razkals) The vision of unifying new emerging artists and established names in the area was re-generated by the trio with the assistance of DoItAll (Lords of the Underground) in 2011 when the group was formed.

The album represents this ethos and their history. Entirely produced by Clinton Place, a long time associate of Prince AK from their days of touring with Flavor Unit’s Supreme C, it also includes guest features by some of the hottest Emcees from Jersey’s underground. In addition to appearances by Treach and DoItAll there is also a little international flavour brought to the table by the UK’s WiseRap

Last week, 050 Boyz released the official video for their new bangin single “Hot Damn”. The energy created here is reproduced throughout the album fron start to finish

Southern rapper & producer releases his debut Ep “Ocean$ – Extended Play” on 19th May.

Now operating out of both Atlanta and Alabama, he’s had a highly productive first few months of 2015 since focusing on his own solo career after producing Londn Blue’s “False Hope” EP last year. His debut track releases such as “50 Centences”, “$77.43” and the first official single from the EP “MoneyorFriendz” have been featured prominently in The Source, MTV and VH-1 with the second single “OLDJAYZVIDEOS” premiering on JackThriller.com.

CD-Rawroots

Veteran hip hop duo Constant Deviants release their fourth studio album “Avant Garde” on 12th May 2015. Via their own Six2Six Records imprint, it will be made avaialble internationally on vinyl, CD & digital formats.

Now back in the independent sector, the pair had worked previously with Major labels Arista in the case of Emcee M.I., and Roc-A-Fella where DJ Cutt engineered several albums for their roster. Having just celebrated the 5th anniversary of their own label, their focus on the traditional authentic aspects of hip hop have seen them build beyond the States with many links to overseas territories including Germany, Switzerland and Australia.

British online Rawroots has reported on homegrown and international hip hop for a number of years now, and have featured the new album “Scattered Thoughts of an American Poet” by Cincinnati’s Buggs tha Rocka, due for release on 10th December 2014.

The 19 strong tracklist includes features by Piakhan, Tanya Morgan, Chuck Inglish, MOOD, Phoenix Aphrodite and production from Hop Trax, Sal Dali, Jake One and !llmind.

He performed at the A3C festival in Atlanta recently with Talib Kweli for the second year running, followed by shows with Bone Thungs n Harmony and the Reflection Eternal reunion event at Cincinnati’s Rhinegeist Brewery. As Soundparlor’s featured artist in their “10” series, he spoke on his background in Southern California, the early musical influences, life as an independent artist and future plans.

Having released his debut solo album “Reality Provoking Liberation” on 28th October, west London rapper & producer Apex Zero has been busy in rehearsals with his live band preparing for his album launch party on Saturday 7th December upstairs at The Vibe Bar in London’s Brick Lane.

The event runs from 8pm – 1am and he will also be joined by Caxton Press, Iron Braydz, Itch FM’s DJ A.Gee and host Peaches.
