Out today on New Dawn Records, the specially commissioned remix by label affiliate Qadir, “Bismillah” originally appeared on the 2021 album ‘Lead by Example’ by London’s Ramson Badbonez, his debut as a producer.

This re-work is a rare concoction of cool groove funk & soulful beats fused together with a blend of deep bass, guitar licks, brass stabs and Arabian strings. The compelling soundtrack fuels rhymes flowing coast to coast like buttah on toast, the jewels delivered by Brooklyn’s seasoned campaigner Justo the MC, San Diego’s Johaz from Dag Savage and prolific Nebraskan Sleep Sinatra.

A prime cut laced with slick lyricism and beats, levels cranking the heat dial up to maximum.

New Dawn Records have rounded off another busy year by releasing a new mix, a mash up of some of their best known single releases from 2002 to 2022.

“New Dawn Records – The Singles [Mixdown 22], includes some of the classics from back in the day by the Belles in Monica crew with remixes by Krash Slaughta and G-Sharp, select gems from last year’s albums “God of Barz” by New Jersey’s Tru Trilla and the award nominated “Panacea” by London duo Phoenix da Icefire, and of course the straight bangers from this year’s “Lead by Example”, the debut production from London’s Ramson Badbonez featuring hip hop heavyweights from both sides of the Atlantic.

Last week, Edinburgh based journalist Peter Johnstone chopped it up with Detroit rapper ZotheJerk ahead of the release of his new album “Black Beach” on May 26th.

Produced by Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble, originally from NY State, it also features Sadat-X, Boldy James, Guilty Simpson, KXNG Crooked, Young Bleed, Tone Chop & more.

The resultant feature published by long running UK online “British Hip Hop” begins with a summary review of the album, noting its themes of relating the current experience of “black America” through skilled lyricism and storytelling, while in one of the stand out tracks “Keep Me Safe” representing the importance of providing strong paternal role models for the next generation.

The article finishes with a one to one interview where Zo touches upon his past, the main messages of the new album, working with Frost Gamble and progression from the underground scene.
