Latest review of the new EP “Veteran” by NY State rapper Tone Chop & Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble comes courtesy of US journalist and author Samuel Odunsi Jr.

Using his own online platform to publish critiques of the latest new music & film releases, the genres covered are broad and eclectic

The review of the new EP breaks down the tracks individually and acknowledges the context of the sound and approach given the duo’s first involvement in hip hop dating back to their friendly rivalry in NY State’s rap battle scene during the late 90’s. The classic authentic feel updated for 2016 is noted, with the recommedation given to all with an appreciation for the true essence “If you are a fan of the golden age and miss it like I do, I suggest you show your support and pick it up ASAP.”

Released through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment on November 18th and available to buy on iTunes, the 7 track EP includes the tribute to Sean Price “Leave It Alone” featuring Ruste Juxx and Nobi and is a warm up for a new album planned for 2017.

The feature headlined “Soldiers in Arms” traces their history together, dating back to their original rivalry in NY State’s rap battle scene during the 90’s to their becoming partners in rhyme and tagging around the local area. The pair discuss their solo careers and the reasons behind the decision to finally release an official collaborative project after all these years.

They also speak on the wider hip hop culture, the changes and evolution that has taken place over the past two decades and the importance they place on acknowledging the part played by the pioneers. Addressing the comparisons between commercial and underground or “traditional” hip hop, there is an acceptance of inevitable divergence while still maintaining the importance of upholding those traditions.

In effect, to educate a younger generation that there is more to hip hop than the imagery and representation typically served as the daily diet by mainstream media. Frost also discusses the role sample clearance issues played on the emergence of various sub-genres, before ending the interview on an optimistic note for hip hop’s future given the apparent upturn in interest and passion by a new generation for the classic sound and traditional elements.

Latest to be featured in the UK’s HHK Magazine “25 Facts” Series is fast rising Southern rap artist Ande Bishop

The series has artists provide previously unknown or unusual facts about their upcoming releases and careers, and in the article just published Ande outlines details about his new “Ocean$ – Extended Play” EP which releases on 19th May through Seven 13 Entertainment.

Having previously produced for fellow American Roulette stable mate Londn Blue, he has switched the production desk for the mic and so far released “50 Centences” featured in The Source, “$77.43” and the first single from the EP “MoneyorFriendz”

The feature includes details about the original planned title of the EP and how the cover artwork came into being, how the EP was recorded in a stunningly short period of time, and how The Game influenced the writing of his debut single
