Buggs-SagittariusHH

French journalist & hip hop head Sagittarius runs his own online publication “Reviews by Sagittarius”…or ‘Sagi Hip Hop’…covering a wide range of international releases

He is the latest to give his seal of approval to the new album “Scattered Thoughts of an American Poet” by Cincinnati’s Buggs tha Rocka which released on 10th December 2014, and is available as a free download from www.buggstharocka.com and also via the MyMixtapez App for mobile devices

The review notes the eclectic nature of the album, with many different productions and flavas added into the mix. At its core is the influences derived from hip hop’s Golden Era, but brought up to date with a contemporary twist augmented by some tru skool r&b and soul.

The fact that much thought has gone into the album’s concept…over a year in the making….is noted, as too are the contributions of the various producers and local artists. The blend of recognized names such as !llmind, Jake One, Tanya Morgan and Chuck Inglish sit easily beside emerging Cincinnati artists such as Hop Trax, Sal Dali, Aida Chakra and Phoenix Aphrodite. The article concludes that the release, with its fresh approach and quality, has marked the arrival of Buggs to a wider audience and as an artist to watch on the global stage in years ahead.

There has been much international media interest in the release and artist over the past few weeks, which has seen Buggs conduct interviews with publications based in the USA, UK, Europe and New Zealand, and is in fact still doing so.

The latest press coverage comes from the UK, in the form of an interview with Rough Online and an album review by PopCulturez.

Buggs-RoughMagazine

In the feature published by Rough, Buggs discusses his earlier releases such as Mutant Level 5 which featured Little Brother, Sa-Ra, Freeway & London’s S.A.S., and his mixtape releases with DJ Clockwork, including The Wrath of Zeus. He speaks on the recognition he has received from his home city, having been named “Hip Hop Artist of 2014” at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards and addresses the hip hop scene there, and those who have paved the way for others to follow.

The topic of discussion then switches to the re-emergence of lyricism in hip hop, a bi product of the throwback to the Golden Era which took place in the worlds of fashion, music and culture, and how he developed a working relationship over the past couple of years with Talib Kweli as well as his recent sit down with Pharrell Williams in Los Angeles.
