Hip Hop Breath is a quarterly magazine published on Issuu.

It is edited by Parisien DJ LSM who hosts the “Medicine Show” among others and also releases various mixtapes. Shortly before the release of their new EP “Veteran”, NY State rapper Tone Chop and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble jumped on Skype to speak with London journalist Taytula Burke for long running online publication British Hip Hop.

The feature published today encompasses their discussion relating to the spirit and sound of the new EP in line with how they first met at rap battles during the 90’s, while also establishing their firm committment to hip hop’s evolution for a modern era.

The opener “Dedication” shouts out many of the G.O.A.T.’s including Rakim, Queen Latifah and Pac, an opening salvo declaring their origins and influences followed by biographical accounts in “Back in the Days” and “Better with Time”. However “Step Up” switches focus to the future, in line with the EP’s role as a warm up for a new album next year.

Cincinnati duo Buggs tha Rocka and Donte from the group MOOD – aka Space Invadaz – are currently in NYC promoting their new free album “Contact”.

Yesterday they appeared on Sway in the Morning and Toca Tuesdays, and will be special guests of DJ Bazarro on Beatminerz Radio today from 5pm EST. You can LISTEN LIVE HERE

The album, released through Talib Kweli’s Javotti Media Group, is available to stream and download from AUDIOMACK and DJ BOOTH It includes production by Hop Trax, Hi Tek and Jake One, and features Chuck Inglish, M1 and Talib himself who is also due to appear on the show today.

Cincinnati emcees Buggs tha Rocka and Donte from the group MOOD got together a couple years back to form the new group Space Invadaz.

They signed to Talib Kweli’s Javotti Media group imprint, Talib having strong historic links with the area from his own work with MOOD and of course another Cincy resident, Hi Tek.

To help launch the overall project, having just returned from performing at this year’s SXSW, the group’s debut release is the new free album “Contact” which is available to stream and download from AudioMack HERE and from DJ Booth HERE

Production comes from among others, Hop Trax, Hi Tek, Jake One and Buggs himself, with featured artists including Talib Kweli, Chuck Inglish and M1. Here’s the full tracklisting on the album’s back cover :

The duo will link up with Talib in NYC from 16th April where they will be meeting with various members of the press and appearing on various radio stations including Smokin Aces on Beatminerz, Sway in the Morning, Tony Touch’s Toca Tuesdays and DJ Bazarro’s World on Beatminerz.

A very rare opportunity to witness jazz drummer and hip hop producer Karriem Riggins perform in London in what is his first ever solo show in London.

With production credits for work with a whole range of well known hip hop artists including Talib Kweli, Slum Village, The Roots, Common and J Dilla under his belt, the jazz drummer has also performed with Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson and Donald Byrd to mention but a few.

He has also turned his hand to a bit of turntablism, and brings his DJ set to England for the show he calls Blend, so called as he mashes together his favourite jazz, soul, funk and hip hop sounds for a unique experience. It’ll get lively…..!!!!

Joining him will be the UK’s First Lady of Hip Hop, ex MTV and BBC 1Xtra presenter DJ Sarah Love. A major player in UK hip hop’s progression since her days at London’s renowned Deal Real and Kung Fu sessions, she now regularly tours overseas to Europe and Australia.

You can catch Karriem, Sarah and Ben Grymm performing on Thursday 17th September at Trapeze Basement (formerly East Village), 89 Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch, EC2A 3HX. The venue is a 5 minute walk east of Old Street Tube Station.

Cosmic Hip Hop are a magazine with connections to both France and Switzerland, reporting in the main on “rap Francais” but with some international content.

They have an online platform carrying news, reviews and interviews, but they also occasionally produce a physical magazine sold in stores in areas of Europe, Canada and Africa, typically French speaking territories. They recently published Issue 9, their summer 2015 edition which also included in amongst their regular content a specific focus on New York and New Jersey.

In addition, they featured their interview with Cincinnati Emcee Buggs tha Rocka who had at the time just released his new album “Scattered Thoughts of An American Poet”.
