The debut solo album by London rapper and producer Apex Zero dropped on 28th October and has proven to be one of UK Hip Hop’s biggest releases of 2013

British online magazine Data Transmission are the latest to give “Reality Provoking Liberation” their seal of approval via their review written by Jazz Gill. The publication have developed an international profile for their coverage of dance music, but have always had an appreciation for high caliber rap & hip hop artists as the opening lines of the review testify:

“Apex Zero’s Reality Provoking Liberation is perhaps the most passionate version of this style released in a long time.” as the article deciphers the political and social issues addressed, delivered with a passionate and energetic flow style and conscientious lyricism. Apex Zero will launch the video for his new single Absolute Zero on Tuesday 5th November at noon GMT, 7am EST. British online publication Bearded Magazine sets out “to generate coverage for independent labels & artists regardless of genre, background or how fashionable they are”

They do just that via features, interviews, reviews, news, videos and their editorial policy isn’t driven by any other factor other than if they feel the artist merits the support. They are the latest, via guest contributor Leland Gill, to take a listen through the new album by London’s rapper and producer Apex Zero.

“Reality Provoking Liberation” is his debut solo album, out on 28th October, having previously released and performed live as part of the duo First and Last, who are still very much in force, and the group The Pantheonz on Zenn-La. Apex Zero’s reputation for conscientious lyricism delivered with a fierce flow developed in these early days and is still very much evident in the new album

Edinburgh based physical & online publication The Skinny Magazine covers a broad spectrum of entertainment including theatre, comedy, art, literature, going out / events, travel and music.

Chaotic Revolt in particular captures the anger and violence inherent in the legacy of the 2011 London riots, and throughout, the beats draw on the rich tradition of string-led, cinematic sample-craft of RZA” it is another review picking up on the range of political & social issues covered in his rhymes and delivered in such a way that “Throughout, Apex Zero’s lyrical content is angry, literate and intelligent”

Apex Zero celebrates the release of his debut solo album “Reality Provoking Liberation” with his launch party upstairs at The Vibe Bar on Saturday 7th December 2013.

Live performances are a specialty for the young rapper & producer, having been a regular at the city’s renowned End of the Weak and Speaker’s Corner events as part of the duo First and Last, and also gained a following for the high energy shows put on as part of the group The Pantheonz of Zenn – La.

Apex plans appearing with a live band to perform tracks off the new album which releases on 28th October. Also performing on the night will be Caxton Press & the latest member of Triple Darkness, Iron Braydz. Spinnin the vinyl will be Itch FM’s DJ A.Gee and the event will be hosted by Peaches. The event has been put together by local live promoter Hoochinoo. This event has of course been re-scheduled from the original date of 2nd November.

There will also be freestyle open mic sessions in what’s shaping up to be a great night of hip hop with some of the hottest talent in the city, definitely not one to be missed!

The review opens : “There are a growing number of emcees on this side of the pond i.e the UK or maybe more appropriately ‘The Belly of The Beast” who are perfectly aware of the governmental pressures that are being heaped upon the 99%. Apex is part of this uprising and he continues with what would seem to be his mission launch a full assault on the system using his self described ‘Neo Hardcore’.”

His energetic & passionate flow addressing a range of political & social issues is touched upon “Apex Zero’s style is lyrically dense but not un-fathomable and it’s likely some of the knowledge he kicks may push some people to learn about things schools don’t teach. He has a full on lyrical machine gun approach via his rapid unrelenting flow.” and in summary reflects “Apex brings us plenty of food for thought and production that’s full of atmospheric strings and tuff beats. Indeed his album is a 12 course meal. 12 tracks of nourishing revolution! Don’t sleep on it.”

One half of the city’s First and Last rap duo, live performances are his specialty from his days appearing at events such as End of the Weak, Speaker’s Corner and also as part of the group The Pantheonz of Zenn-la, renowned for their energetic stage shows.
