AlbumCoverWeb

There are a few Youtube channels set up as review platforms for hip hop & rap albums, some providing more detailed coverage than others. The Underground Vault based in Canada is one which does go more in depth with their reviews, having clearly taken their time to listen through an album on more than one occasion and then provide a very well explained formed opinion, usually lasting 10 – 15 minutes

The review summarizes “Righteous Fury is a valiant effort if the aim was to get rap in a chokehold and drag it back to its heyday. Well worth a listen.” and can be read HERE

RighteousFury-UCL

Rare FM is the student run radio station of University College London, and their affiliated magazine is Under City Lights.

They are the latest to give closer inspection to the new album “Righteous Fury” by hip hop MC Matt Maddox. His sophomore solo release following Asylum Artistry (2010), the ex Guerilla War Tactix member brings the classic west coast hip hop values to the table, unsurprisingly given his origins in Long Beach California. Now based in Kansas in the heart of America’s MidWest, the rapper calls on some choice production skills from Nemesis, Vanderslice, C Lance, Sicknature & Skammadix over which he lays down some serious lyricism and rhyme skills.

Joined on the mic on feature duties by such notables as Tragedy Khadafi, Reef The Lost Cauze, Adlib, Edd Bundy and King Magnetic, the album is also laced with quality turntablism with the scratches & cuts courtesy of the UK’s DJ TMB.

UCL’s Josh Williams may have been new to the name but explains why he’s a convert to the cause HERE

There will be much more review and feature coverage in the international media over the coming weeks, but those in NYC, New Jersey, Chicago, Virginia, North & South Carolina and Wisconsin will have the opportunity to see him perform live very shortly with Reef the Lost Cauze and Adlib at the following venues:

Feb 20th- Allentown, PA Pitchers Lounge
Feb 21st- Quakertown, PA The Eagle
Feb 22nd- Staten Island, NY The Full Cup
Feb 23rd- Atlantic City, NJ Gran Fromage
Feb 28th- Spartanburg, SC Mirrors Gentlemens Club

March 2nd- Norfolk, VA The Iguana
March 5th- Chicago, IL Sub T lounge
March 6th- Madison, WI
March 7th- Milwaukee, WI The Stone Fly
