London rapper & producer duo Phoenix da Icefire and Husky Brown released their groundbreaking new album “Panacea” through New Dawn Records on May 5th

Nominated for “Best Independent Album” at this year’s prestigious AIM Awards taking place on August 12th ( https://www.aimawards.co.uk/nominees ), Husky’s rare fusion of hip hop, electro, bass, dub, soul and r&b is the soundtrack for Phoenix’s highly creative narrative addressing many of today’s most pressing issues including climate change, racism, well being, mental health, knife crime and social aspiration, all delivered with a refreshing and optimistic counterpoint of hope, healing and reconciliation.

The first video from the album “The Humans are Coming” released today. Filmed by Global Faction and UKHH, the spectacular visuals edited by Sovereign Comics represent the environmental theme portrayed as a metaphorical letter of contrition to the mythical Gaia for the damage done to her realm.

London rapper Phoenix da Icefire and producer Husky Brown released their debut collaborative album “Panacea” through New Dawn Records on May 5th.

It has just been announced that the pair have been shortlisted as nominees in the “Best Independent Album” category at this year’s AIM Awards, an annual event hosted by The Association of Independent Music who represent UK artists, labels and affiliated businesses worldwide.

Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, this year’s ceremony will take place entirely online broadcasting on Wednesday August 12th. The full list of categories and a highly impressive line up of nominees is available HERE

The inclusion of “Panacea” is in recognition of the extraordinary musical and lyrical construction of the album. Husky’s unique blend of hip hop, rap, soul, dub, electro, r&b and bass provides the backdrop for Phoenix’s renowned wordplay and lyricism.

Given it was written in 2019, the subject matter is almost precognisant in nature, addressing global issues of well being, mental health, racism, climate change, the environment, knife crime, spirituality and aspiration, but refreshingly all delivered with the underlying theme of hope and determined optimism for a better future.

New Dawn Records are starting 2020 with a bang. Hot on the heels of signing New Jersey’s Tru Trilla for his new projects this year, the label have just announced they will be releasing the new album “Panacea” by London duo Phoenix da Icefire and Husky Brown on May 5th.

Taken from their official website this morning, the statement added “We are delighted to be working with such highly talented artists and their ground breaking album, another reflection of this label’s identity and future intentions.”

In what is a quite astounding and ground breaking debut partnership, Husky’s productions fuse hip hop, soul, electronica, dub, bass and r&b resulting in a dynamic and energetic soundtrack.

As expected from the Triple Darkness member, Phoenix uses all of his verbal artillery to address a number of highly relevant issues for these times covering the environment, mental health, racism, knife crime, disengagement and social decay.

Singles “Cosmic Soul / Seasons of You”, “Dark Rainbow Light / Sins of Gaia” and “The Humans are Coming / Travelling Buddy” will be released during March and April. They include remixes by Soul Brother Juice, Kashmere and Chemo and expect to see accompanying videos.

The pair have also confirmed an album launch party will take place at Brixton Jamm on Friday May 8th in association with Hoochinoo Events with full details to follow shortly.
