New Dawn Records are starting 2020 with a bang. Hot on the heels of signing New Jersey’s Tru Trilla for his new projects this year, the label have just announced they will be releasing the new album “Panacea” by London duo Phoenix da Icefire and Husky Brown on May 5th.

Taken from their official website this morning, the statement added “We are delighted to be working with such highly talented artists and their ground breaking album, another reflection of this label’s identity and future intentions.”

In what is a quite astounding and ground breaking debut partnership, Husky’s productions fuse hip hop, soul, electronica, dub, bass and r&b resulting in a dynamic and energetic soundtrack.

As expected from the Triple Darkness member, Phoenix uses all of his verbal artillery to address a number of highly relevant issues for these times covering the environment, mental health, racism, knife crime, disengagement and social decay.

Singles “Cosmic Soul / Seasons of You”, “Dark Rainbow Light / Sins of Gaia” and “The Humans are Coming / Travelling Buddy” will be released during March and April. They include remixes by Soul Brother Juice, Kashmere and Chemo and expect to see accompanying videos.

The pair have also confirmed an album launch party will take place at Brixton Jamm on Friday May 8th in association with Hoochinoo Events with full details to follow shortly.

A very rare opportunity to witness jazz drummer and hip hop producer Karriem Riggins perform in London in what is his first ever solo show in London.

With production credits for work with a whole range of well known hip hop artists including Talib Kweli, Slum Village, The Roots, Common and J Dilla under his belt, the jazz drummer has also performed with Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson and Donald Byrd to mention but a few.

He has also turned his hand to a bit of turntablism, and brings his DJ set to England for the show he calls Blend, so called as he mashes together his favourite jazz, soul, funk and hip hop sounds for a unique experience. It’ll get lively…..!!!!
