To mark the fifth anniversary since re-launching in 2019, New Dawn Records have today released the new single “No Joking Around” by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla.

Following last month’s ‘Sun Rays’ featuring Reks and Lakim Shabazz, this is the second to be taken from the forthcoming album “XVI : Return of the Gods” out in May.

On the new cut, the Brick City veteran has recruited another Garden State native in the form of Jamal Nueve, originally affiliated with the legendary Flavor Unit crew as DJ Jamal #9. Now resident in California, the multi credited producer has delivered a funk fuelled banger laced with ferocious bars from lyrical marksmen in the heavyweight division.

The gloves are off as Boston’s Flash and V Knuckles of N.B.S. join Tru and Recognize Ali on the rampage, exchanging trademark punchlines as combinations thrown in a barrage of body blows to would be contenders. Rugged and uncompromising, high frequency lyrics with no prisoners taken, the result is undisputed.

New Dawn Records & UrbanElite Productions affiliate Qadir has returned to channel his inner Morpheus in tribute to the traditional elements of hip hop culture in his new production “Welcome to the Real”, just released as a video on Youtube.

It was also put together in part to help launch the label’s new video playlist, “Welcome to the Realness” which consists of singles they’ve released by artists from the US & UK, reppin’ the best of beatmaking, turntablism and rhyme skillz.

Recipient of the title “Best Rapper” at the Ithaca Music Awards in 2019, Anthony Kannon has enjoyed a rapid rise in recognition as one of the most highly rated talents to emerge from NY State in recent years. 

His new album “Cautionary Tales” releases on October 20th a collaborative project with veteran producer Frost Gamble, originally from nearby Binghamton and now resident in Canada.

Local media outlets were quick to pick up on the story of his signing with New Dawn Records for the release including a feature in The Ithaca Voice newspaper, a report aired live on tv news station WENY and an interview broadcast on local commercial radio station Z95.5 FM.

The first single from the album “Pitfalls” released today and addresses his own personal growth.  An evolution from the hustles of his younger days to more progressive paths while struggling to escape past legacies, the funk fuelled beat lending itself to the air of optimism for the future.   As with the entire album, this is the classic art of real life storytelling set to the perfect soundtrack.

New Dawn Records have rounded off another busy year by releasing a new mix, a mash up of some of their best known single releases from 2002 to 2022.

“New Dawn Records – The Singles [Mixdown 22], includes some of the classics from back in the day by the Belles in Monica crew with remixes by Krash Slaughta and G-Sharp, select gems from last year’s albums “God of Barz” by New Jersey’s Tru Trilla and the award nominated “Panacea” by London duo Phoenix da Icefire, and of course the straight bangers from this year’s “Lead by Example”, the debut production from London’s Ramson Badbonez featuring hip hop heavyweights from both sides of the Atlantic.

Originally established in 1996 and relaunched in 2019, hip hop label New Dawn Records have packed a lot into the past 12 months.

The most recent development announced today is the launch of their new Bandcamp platform where, to begin with, their entire digital catalogue has just been made available to download.

Included are “Panacea” by London’s Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown, nominated for “Best Independent Album” at this year’s AIM Awards, “God of Barz” & “The Seymour Chronicles” by New Jersey’s lyrical marksman Tru Trilla with production by Spain’s Sumerio Square, the UK’s Chat One, Chicago’s DNA Beatz and LA’s Clinton Place aka Jamal Nueve, and “Dopeliss” by rapper / producer Az Izz of legendary New Jersey group The Outsidaz featuring Pacewon, D.U. and Drift.
