Just before the turn of the year, the UK’s online tv channel OnTrax visited New York and New Jersey to conduct a series of filmed interviews.

They sat down for 5 minutes with Brick City rapper Tru Trilla in the studios owned by local legends Lords of the Underground, and chopped it up about his earliest influences which naturally included the Lords, Naughty by Nature, Lakim Shabazz and Queen Latifah, and his journey starting out in hip hop.

He reveals his own original move from poetry to writing lyrics, and the passion felt in the creative process transferred to the listener, describing music as “art in motion and medicine to the soul” citing the track “I Remember” from his recently released EP “The Seymour Chronicles” as an example of the importance of writing from the heart.

Just published, watch the full interview on Youtube.

Released through New Dawn Records on March 17th, you can stream “The Seymour Chronicles EP” in full on Spotify

Tru will also be releasing his banging new album “God of Barz” through New Dawn Records on May 29th which includes production by Clinton Place (NJ/LA), DNA Beatz (Chicago), Sumerio Square (Barcelona) and the UK’s Chat One. The first single “Word of God” released on March 30th, again available to stream on Spotify

Recently, west coast hip hop group Horseshoe Gang chopped it up with Joe Blakk & Mr Caypre on High End Radio which broadcasts through the Siccness Radio network.

The crew spoke about the COB (Circle of Bosses) movement started by their elder brother KXNG Crooked before addressing their tag as “the new saviours of the west coast” as part of the discussion on the loss of real lyricism in hip hop, and those artists who are bringing it back on the agenda.

The show’s hosts addressed the track “Why Men Cheat” from the group’s debut album “Gangsta MC” and their reputation over the years of talking about all forms of real life issues, before the subject moved to cyphers.

When asked whether they thought Fetty Wap, Young Thug, Future and Rich Homie Quan could go toe to toe in a cypher, Horseshoe Gang threw the doors open and laid down a challenge to allcomers to take ’em on before finishing the interview with Julius launching into a fierce 16 bar freestyle

The full interview was uploaded to the official Siccness Youtube Channel
