Long time eastcoast sparring partners Tone Chop and Frost Gamble release their new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” through 22 Entertainment on September 29th.

Rapper Chop’s experienced mastery of the mic combines the art of storytelling with fierce lyrical salvos, his trademark delivery unleashed through a series of powerful verses and snappy hooks. Guest featured artists Kool G Rap, Planet Asia, Tragedy Khadafi, Canadian upcomer White Rhino and the States’ most viewed online rap battler D.N.A. deliver front and centre with fire in the bars as expected, hard rhymes and sharp wordplay for the hip hop connoisseur.

Regarded as one of the fastest emerging producer names on the scene, Frost Gamble’s beats are infused with soul, r&b, funk, dub and electronica. Mashing up samples, loops, turntablism and original recordings, the spirit’s traditional, the result’s contemporary.

UK online HHK Magazine spoke with the pair as part of their “25 Facts” series which takes a behind the scenes look at the making of the album and offers previously unknown information about the artists.

Frost, now a Canadian citizen but originally from upstate NY, is back in NYC this weekend finishing off a new album with Tragedy Khadafi and meeting with members of the media. He is also near completion of another new solo project which includes features by Ras Kass, Skyzoo, KXNG Crooked, Rah Digga, Ruste Juxx, Guilty Simpson and many more.

Meanwhile, Chop & Frost are preparing to release the second single from the album “Guillotine Chop” ft Planet Asia and White Rhino next Friday, August 11th. The first to be released was “Walk the Walk” ft Kool G Rap.

Earlier this week, eastcoast rapper & producer duo Tone Chop & Frost Gamble jumped on Skype to speak with Rainbow Exotic Music for the latest edition of their podcast.

The pair discussed the earliest days together growing up in NY state which included a period as rap battle rivals, and their earliest influences, citing names such as Diamond D, Lord Finesse, Pete Rock, LL Cool J and The Beatnuts as helping shape their initial approach.

They then speak about the concept behind their new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” and Chop provides an insight into the working relationship with featured artists Kool G Rap and DNA. The subject then moves on to the comparisons between the classic style of hip hop with some of today’s contemporary mainstream offshoots, the differentials in marketplaces and focus on lyical content, as Chop declares his wish for “mumble rap” to be re-categorized seperately from the genre!

Chop is then asked to give his thoughts on Jay-Z’s new album “4:44”, and as a fan of Hova he gives an interesting view of his overall body of work since the release of “Reasonable Doubt”. Meanwhile, as the pair discuss the logistics of recording together, Frost explains his move from traditional to contemporary crate digging techniques using the MPC, S900 and Tempest as part of the production process.

First broadcast by Canadian station CHRW 94.9 FM on May 16th, The Word is Bond Rap Radio Show welcomed Detroit rapper ZotheJerk as their special guest.
