Released today through New Dawn Records, the new album “Cautionary Tales” by award winning Ithacan rapper Anthony Kannon and veteran New York State producer Frost Gamble, now resident in Canada.

Authentically powerful, the young lyricist draws on his own real life battles and challenging circumstances to convey a wide range of subject matter represented throughout the aptly titled release.  Having survived the trauma of being shot by armed intruders to the family home, it is a remarkable journey encapsulated in a series of biographical depictions, all with an underlying theme of survival, escape, progression and transformation. 

This is Storyville of a life less ordinary handled with impressive maturity through a narrative packed full of dope rhymes and skillful wordplay set to the highest caliber soundtrack provided by Frost, himself a Juno Awards nominee for his production on Fresh IE’s “Ill Street Blues” in 2020.

The pair have two upcoming album launch events, the first at The Osborne Taphouse, Winnipeg on Thursday October 26th, then on Saturday November 18th at Deep Dive, Ithaca.

Released on Friday June 7th, the “Natsukashii EP” by veteran hip hop crew Belles in Monica was the third in a series of specially commissioned recordings to mark this year’s relaunch of label New Dawn Records.

The follow up to April’s “Y’All In Meltdown EP”, the new EP includes re-worked and re-produced originals only previously available on vinyl, together with never before available instrumentals and exclusive new recordings, their first in 15 years.

There have already been a couple of reviews published of the new release, one by UK magazine “The Wee Review” and the other by US online “TripleOT” – click the links to read their appraisals.

News items covering the group’s single and EP releases over the past couple of months have also appeared in a number of other online published from both sides of the Atlantic

The fourth and final EP in this special series will be released a little later in the year and consist of a number of remixes legendary turntablist DJ Krash Slaughta produced with the group

The first of four specially commissioned EP’s to mark the re-launch of New Dawn Records after a 15 year hiatus, hip hop crew Belles in Monica release “Y’All in Meltdown – Lazarus EP Volume 1” on April 26th.

A combination of their classic singles “Y’All Under Surveillance” and “Meltdown” made available for the first time in digital format including remixes by legendary DMC finalist DJ Krash Slaughta and Phi Life Cypher beatmeister DJ Nappa with further contributions by producers G-Sharp, Gripper and London turntablist DJ Mr Thing.

Included in the line up are from the States, Swiss Precise (KBH), Black Market and The Yukonn MC, the UK’s Rapstation host Mr. CRF, Beni Blanco from French crew Originaire du Sud, Madrid’s El Meswy, and the late, great, Primo Brown from Italy’s Cor Veleno.
