Released today through New Dawn Records, the new album “Cautionary Tales” by award winning Ithacan rapper Anthony Kannon and veteran New York State producer Frost Gamble, now resident in Canada.

Authentically powerful, the young lyricist draws on his own real life battles and challenging circumstances to convey a wide range of subject matter represented throughout the aptly titled release.  Having survived the trauma of being shot by armed intruders to the family home, it is a remarkable journey encapsulated in a series of biographical depictions, all with an underlying theme of survival, escape, progression and transformation. 

This is Storyville of a life less ordinary handled with impressive maturity through a narrative packed full of dope rhymes and skillful wordplay set to the highest caliber soundtrack provided by Frost, himself a Juno Awards nominee for his production on Fresh IE’s “Ill Street Blues” in 2020.

The pair have two upcoming album launch events, the first at The Osborne Taphouse, Winnipeg on Thursday October 26th, then on Saturday November 18th at Deep Dive, Ithaca.

London’s rapper & producer duo Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown warm up for the release of their phenomenal new album “Panacea” on May 5th with this new single “The Humans are Coming” b/w “Travelling Buddy” out today through New Dawn Records.

As expected of the Triple Darkness member, Phoenix combines the highest caliber rhyme skills and imaginative wordplay to tackle many of the most pressing issues facing society today, none more so than in the new AA side.  Amidst the frenzy of Husky’s highly charged electronica fuelling “The Humans are Coming”, Phoenix pens a letter of contrition to the mythological Gaia for the damage done to her environment, while the atmospheric “Travelling Buddy” is a poignant message of empathy & support to all facing the challenges of mental health issues.

Out today through recently relaunched label New Dawn Records, the new single “Smoke Filled Rooms” b/w “Skitzophonetic” by hip hop crew Belles in Monica.

Already on international rotation, “Smoke Filled  Rooms” mixes electronica, turntablism and South Asian flavas to journey into the dark underbelly of the inner city with rhymes depicting a vision of drug squalor hell, while the booming kicks and soaring strings of “Skitzophonetic” provides the dramatic backdrop for a verbal tirade against generic conformity.  Bonus cut “That All U Got?” invokes the spirit of Ali & Foreman leaving industry machinations slumped in the corner, towel thrown.  The art of storytelling has returned on a release spanning all eras.
