Been a busy time for Newark hip hop group 050 Boyz in the week following the release of their debut album “Everything 050” on 4th August. It’s available from iTUNES

Still conducting interviews with the world’s media, they travelled through to NYC on Wednesday night to appear as guests of DJ Eclipse on his Halftime Show on WNYU, and yesterday chopped it up with fellow New Jerseyan Michelle Locke for Goodfella Media’s Feature Friday series which currently has a particular focus on artists from the Garden State

Newark trio Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK – aka 050 Boyz – released their album “Everything 050” last week.

The group have already received widespread international media coverage for their album and affiliated single and video releases, but they’re also renowned for their energetic live performances, as displayed recently at their hometown’s Lincoln Park Festival.

They have also built up quite a reputation among media for their lively and informed interviews, so it should prove highly entertaining as they appear live in the WNYU studio tomorrow night as guests of DJ Eclipse on The Halftime Show. Newark hip hop group 050 Boyz released their debut album “Everything 050” this week, produced by Clinton Place and featuring some of the finest lyricists from the New Jersey scene including Treach (Naughty by Nature), Lakim Shabazz, DoItAll (Lords of the Underground), B Wells, Ib the Druid, Tha Advocate, Fam (Rottin Razkals), and there’s also a little UK flavour thrown into the mix courtesy of WiseRap.

Two reviews of the album by online magazines on both sides of the Atlantic have just been published. Swurv Radio (USA) and Hip Hop Reviews by Sagittarius (France) share an acknowledgement of the energetic nature of the album through the quality of production and firebrand lyrcism on display, hardcore flows deliverin’ knockout blows.

A couple of weeks ago in the lead up to the release of their debut album “Everything 050”, New Jersey hip hop group 050 Boyz jumped on the phone with London’s multi-genre publication Guestlist Network.

The publication is produced online and as a monthly newspaper covering music news, events, clubs, tours and fashion from a national and international perspective

The trio of Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK formed as a group in 2011, but have been involved in the Garden State’s hip hop scene since the Golden Era of the 1990’s discussed their early days and life in Newark before addressing their aims for the group and also for their individual endeavours.

The interview moves on to the influence daily life in New Jersey has in their music and the subject matter they address, specifically within the new album, and how they differentiate traditional hip hop culture in comparison to that represented in the more mainstream commercial sector.

The interview concludes by the group explaining the approach to the production on the album, handled entirely by long time associate Clinton Place – aka DJ Jamal #9. One of the most in-depth interviews given by the group in recent times which you can read in full HERE

New Jersey trio Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK – aka 050 Boyz – release their first official album “Everything 050” on 4th August.

Between them they have many years in the local hip hop scene, whether with previous groups or solo projects, and were heavily involved with the Garden State Greats movement of 2004, a concept devised by Treach (Naughty by Nature) & Fam (Rottin Razkals) The vision of unifying new emerging artists and established names in the area was re-generated by the trio with the assistance of DoItAll (Lords of the Underground) in 2011 when the group was formed.

The album represents this ethos and their history. Entirely produced by Clinton Place, a long time associate of Prince AK from their days of touring with Flavor Unit’s Supreme C, it also includes guest features by some of the hottest Emcees from Jersey’s underground. In addition to appearances by Treach and DoItAll there is also a little international flavour brought to the table by the UK’s WiseRap

Prince AK, Riq da Kid and Tru Trilla have earned the medals in the local scene throughout the years whether as members of groups or with their solo careers, and were involved with the Garden State Greats movement devised by Treach and Fam of Rottin Razkals back in the day. With initial assistance from DoItAll, the group regenerated the concept of unifying and representing Jersey hip hop while forming in the past couple of years, and the nature of the album is testament to this aim

They sat down recently with US online Straight Fresh to chop it all up. They discussed their years in the game and working with some of the best known names to come from the area, their thoughts on hip hop, influences, Jersey hip hop, their aims with the new album and much more

New Jersey trio, Prince AK, Tru Trilla and Riq tha Kid, aka 050 Boyz, travelled a long and diverse road to form as a group in 2011.

With individual histories spanning back a couple of decades, the story of 050 Boyz who take their name from the NJ district code is one of careers intertwining at various stages throughout the years. Most notably as part of the Garden State Greats movement inspired by Treach (Naughty by Nature) & Fam (Rottin Razcals) in 2004, a concept which was re-generated by Lords of the Underground front man DoItAll some years later.

Added to the mix are tv & film acting careers, ongoing solo careers and now a banging new hip hop album produced entirely by Clinton Place (Yukmouth, Kurupt, DoItAll and Gillahouse’s Runt Dawg)
