In the lead up to the release of his new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” last week with long time sparring partner Tone Chop, NY state hip hop producer Frost Gamble, currently resident in Winnipeg Canada, sat down with Chicago online magazine “Flows for Days”.

In the article published yesterday, the crate digger speaks about the switch from vinyl in the beatmaking process and the progression from last year’s “Veteran” EP with Chop to the new album.

He discusses how he first started out in production, the earliest influences, his work on an award winning gospel album and also a project with the legendary Rakim’s son Tahmell, and the impact signing with Miami’s 22 Entertainment has had on his career – a label whose back catalogue includes Royce da 5’9″, Fashawn, J-Kwon, Bumpy Knuckles, KXNG Crooked, Joe Budden and many more.

Frost will also release a new EP “Rare Fabric” on October 20th, a collaboration with Tragedsy Khadafi and a new solo LP “I Missed My Bus” featuring KXNG Crooked, Ruste Juxx, Skyzoo, Rah Digga, Guilty Simpson, Ras Kass and many more is due out in early 2018.

The pair will be appearing as guests live in the studio with DJ Eclipse on the Rap Is Outta Control Show [Sirius XM Hip Hop Nation] Monday October 16th as they hit NYC for a couple days promoting the new album. Long established at the forefront of the UK’s burgeoning rap scene, DFH also spent time in NYC as part of J-Ronin’s “All Elements” clic and worked with US artists Sav Killz, Prince Po, Dead Prez, Hasan Salaam, D.V Alias Khryst and the late Sean P. Been quite a 12 months for hip hop producer Frost Gamble, originally from NY State but now resident in Canada.

Having signed with Miami’s 22 Entertainment, whose back catalogue includes Royce da 5’9″, Fashawn, Joe Budden, J-Kwon and KXNG Crooked, his first release on his new deal was the “Veteran” EP with long time sparring partner, east coast rapper Tone Chop, in November ’16.

This was followed quickly by the album “Black Beach” with another of his Nostalgia Clic stable of artists, Detroit rapper ZotheJerk. Release in May this year and featuring KXNG Crooked, Guilty Simpson, Boldy James and Sadat X, it received worldwide media coverage including a review in the renowned MOJO Magazine.

As we enter the latter half of 2017, he has two more releases on the immediate horizon. September 29th is the date for the new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” again with Tone Chop and featuring Kool G Rap, Planet Asia, Tragedy Khadafi and rap battling phenomenon D.N.A.

This will be followed on October 20th with the “Rare Fabric” EP, a joint venture with Tragedy Khadafi. Meantime, he’s been recording new music with Horseshoe Gang, Royce da 5’9″ and is also near completion of a solo producer album “I Missed My Bus” which includes guest feature artists Ruste Juxx, Ras Kass, Skyzoo, Rah Digga, Guilty Simpson, KXNG Crooked and many more.

Midwest journalist Sinseer took time out recently to speak with Frost about his earliest days in production, his influences and style, the historical relationship with Tone Chop and Zo, his tie up with the label and of course all of his past and future projects.

Under previous incarnations, Miami based 22 Entertainment operated as a record label, distribution partner and production company releasing a wide range of urban and rock genres.

Notable landmarks includes their involvement in assisting the early development of what would become rap supergroup Slaughterhouse, and in 2011 they released Royce da 5’9″‘s “Success Is Certain”, the most successful independent rap album of that year.

A restructure and re-brand in the past year has seen the label sign a worldwide physical and digital distribution deal with Sony’s “The Orchard” who recently took over Sony Red’s operations. New video by north west London rapper Da Flyy Hooligan, “Romero Bryan” is taken from his EP “Fucc Ya Life Praise Mine” released earlier this summer.

Long regarded as one of the UK’s most gifted and creative lyricists, his bullish rhymes are fuelled by Agor’s lavish guitar driven production.
