New Jersey’s 050 Boyz release their album “Everything 050” on 4th August

The Garden State is represented heavily throughout with features from many of the finest lyricists in the area joining the trio of Tru Trilla, Riq da Kid and Prince AK on a powerful and energetic production courtesy of Clinton Place.

They have just launched their new joint “DNA” today, taken from the album and featuring Ib the Druid, Famiil and long time associate Treach from Naughty by Nature

The group are busy conducting interviews with international press and preparing the launch of further singles, buzz tracks, freestyle videos and official videos.

Emcee M.I. and producer DJ Cutt celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut 12″ single release “Competition Catch Speed Knots” next year, and they have warmed up for that in impressive style in part due to the extensive international media coverage of their fourth album swhich released on 12th May.

They also released their movie Swiss Banks earlier in 2015, a collaborative project under the name Trilateral Conspiracy with their associates in Switzerland “SWC Records” combining their album and best selling novel of the same name. With M.I. in an acting role, the album provided the soundtrack, the novel the visual direction.

In April they launched their “3Stylez” series, a trilogy of freestyle videos rooted in the traditional concept of one mic and two turntables, and their single “Breathin” reached #1 in the US college radio charts.

The veteran east coast duo who originate from Brooklyn and Baltimore with a little bit of New Jersey thrown into the mix are currently filming a new movie “Six2Six” named after the label they founded. They will also be returning to the lab soon to begin recording new material

As part of their ongoing “Whole 9” series of features, US online publication “The 9 Elements” sat down recently with New Jersey’s Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK, otherwise known as 050 Boyz, to chop it up about their new album “Everything 050” which releases on 4th August

The group with strong roots in Newark and East Orange also spoke about some of their earliest influences from the local scene, their long association with Treach from Naughty by Nature and Lords of the Underground frontman DoItAll, and what’s going on right now in the Garden State’s hip hop scene.

New Jersey trio Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince AK – aka 050 Boyz – release their first official album “Everything 050” on 4th August.

Between them they have many years in the local hip hop scene, whether with previous groups or solo projects, and were heavily involved with the Garden State Greats movement of 2004, a concept devised by Treach (Naughty by Nature) & Fam (Rottin Razkals) The vision of unifying new emerging artists and established names in the area was re-generated by the trio with the assistance of DoItAll (Lords of the Underground) in 2011 when the group was formed.

The album represents this ethos and their history. Entirely produced by Clinton Place, a long time associate of Prince AK from their days of touring with Flavor Unit’s Supreme C, it also includes guest features by some of the hottest Emcees from Jersey’s underground. In addition to appearances by Treach and DoItAll there is also a little international flavour brought to the table by the UK’s WiseRap

With initial assistance from DoItAll, the group regenerated the concept of unifying and representing Jersey hip hop while forming in the past couple of years, and the nature of the album is testament to this aim

They sat down recently with US online Straight Fresh to chop it all up. They discussed their years in the game and working with some of the best known names to come from the area, their thoughts on hip hop, influences, Jersey hip hop, their aims with the new album and much more

New Jersey trio Price AK, Riq da Kid & Tru Trilla, aka 050 Boyz, release their new album “Everything 050” on 4th August

While this may be their debut album as a group, a follow up to their earlier mixtape “050 Dat”, all three members have been involved in hip hop during the past couple of decades as members of groups, with solo projects and as part of the Garden State Greats movement of 2004 launched by Treach (Naughty by Nature) and Fam (Rottin Razkals).

The group formed in the past few years, in part inspired by the concept behind GSG regenerated by DoItAll from Lords of the Underground. The album’s only producer Clinton Place also has a history with the group members going back to the 90’s, and the new release can be viewed as the natural result of many years of collaborations and developed working relationships in New Jersey’s scene.
