Their contributor Matt Watkins spoke with local hip hop Emcee and producer Iron Braydz recently to discuss his new EP “Verbal sWARdz” which releases on 14th April, the comparisons between the UK and US hip hop scenes, and the influences from the early days which have stayed with him

The 10 track EP which also features Sean Price, Prince Po, Triple Darkness, Phat Kat, Kyza & Skriblah…with a special appearance by Kiss FM’s DJ Shortee Blitz… is the first of a planned series of releases over the coming year for one of the UK’s most gifted lyricists, and you can also expect to see him make an appearance in a new independent film Night Bus later in the year. North London’s Iron Braydz is one of the UK’s most highly rated hip hop lyricists, and is set to launch a series of solo releases over the next 12 months, beginning with the new Verbal sWARdz EP on 14th April.

British online multi genre music magazine Subba Cultcha took time out recently to speak with American rapper Matt Maddox who released his new album “Righteous Fury” on 25th February

The ex Guerilla War Tactix member, originally out of Long Beach California but now living in Kansas spoke on the recording process and transition from his debut album “Asylum Artistry”, the writing process and lyrical content, his influences and the publication also asked him about the specific motivation behind the tracks Work, Sick & Tired and No Country for Old Men.

The feature, written by Ben Bradford, opens with a snapshot review summarizing “It’s a 19 track album but boy does it whiz by. Admittedly at first it took me a few listens to realise the power and the cleverness of this album. But he manages to sound angry, hurt, sad, confused, clever, and insightful and often all at the same time.” and can be read in full HERE

Ahead of the release of his new EP “Verbal sWARdz” on 14th April, Iron Braydz gives one of his most in depth interviews to date to British online publication NIJI Magazine.

He speaks on his move from Nigeria to Kilburn in north London at a young age, the early influence of hip hop in his life and what inspired him to become an artist, his earliest live shows & hosting events for DJ Premier, Joell Ortiz and RZA, working with UK producers Lewis Parker and Chemo and Stateside artists Sean Price, DJ Ronin and Sav Killz, his growing support in Europe, becoming the newest member of Triple Darkness, his role in a new independent film “Night Bus” and the recording process in putting the new EP together

Germany’s Backspin Magazine compile a weekly column of hip hop & rap releases from around the world in their “Plattenkiste” series, snapshot reviews highlighting what they rate

They have just picked up on the new EP “Verbal sWARdz” by London rapper & producer Iron Braydz which releases on 14th April. The approximate translation reads as follows :

“Iron Braydz makes “Verbal sWARdz” dark and completely convincing all along the line. Simple beats and an aggressive flow is the secret recipe of “Verbal sWARdz”.
