North London rapper & producer Iron Braydz sat down with British multi genre online music magazine Subba Cultcha recently ahead of the release of his new “Verbal sWARdz” EP which is available now from his BANDCAMP

The magazine’s contributor Ben Bradford spoke with the Triple Darkness member about the origins of the EP’s title, discussed the reasons behind the Emcee’s earlier inclination to give up music and the factors which influenced his decision to continue, they talk through specific tracks on the EP and working with Prince Po, his time in the States and his plans for his future album scheduled to be released later in 2014.

British online multi genre music magazine Subba Cultcha took time out recently to speak with American rapper Matt Maddox who released his new album “Righteous Fury” on 25th February

The ex Guerilla War Tactix member, originally out of Long Beach California but now living in Kansas spoke on the recording process and transition from his debut album “Asylum Artistry”, the writing process and lyrical content, his influences and the publication also asked him about the specific motivation behind the tracks Work, Sick & Tired and No Country for Old Men.

The feature, written by Ben Bradford, opens with a snapshot review summarizing “It’s a 19 track album but boy does it whiz by. Admittedly at first it took me a few listens to realise the power and the cleverness of this album. West London rapper and producer Apex Zero sat down with journalist Ben Bradford recently for British online magazine Subba Cultcha.

They discussed the making of his debut solo album Reality Provoking Liberation and the underlying theme and concept of the subject matter, as well as working with his fellow partner in “First and Last” rhyme OMeza Omnsicient, Hasan Salaaam, Iron Braydz, Amy True and Invincible Armour. He explains why this has been the culmination of years of work beginning in 2010 and his writing techniques, whether as a lyricist or a producer, and his plans for the future.

It has been a highly impressive debut release, and the journalist opens the article with his own thoughts on the album, and these excerpts provide the flavour:

“listening to Apex Zero’s fierce and powerful lyrics on ‘Reality Provoking Liberation’ its clear he’s trying to unite people and to fight against the common enemy, the state, the Government , instead of against each other”

“As Apex spits on the rough as a sawn of shotgun to the face of an opening track ‘Shackled By The Pound’…he attempts to rally the unfortunate and the oppressed throughout the album, giving messages of support and encouragement, and he’s asking for a revolution throughout the album”

“‘Reality Provoking Liberation’ is a really melodic album, underneath the fury and anger, and with Apex spitting lyrics the size of nuclear bombs, the melody and classical edge really takes you into his lyrics and messages. it’s a full on surround sound album. Its an epic, intense, emotional, and informative album.”

The publication’s Ben Bradford took time out recently to speak with Los Angeles hip hop emcee EtheMadAssassin ahead of the release of his third solo album “Soul on Fire” on 17th September.

Something of a veteran in the independent scene…and not just as part of Cali duo Veteran Assassins…he started out based in Greensboro NC and also spent time in Camden, New Jersey before making the move to the west coast primarily to start the new group with his partner in rhyme Veteran Eye.

The interview is preceded with an overview of the new album itself “if you want to learn of life on the streets, particularly in the 80s and 90s then this is the place to come” adding “This is Assassin rap…where Ethemadassassin comes out fighting for you, fighting for himself, and fighting for people to be together and fighting against the bullshit…its an honest and breathtakingly direct approach, which has come to fruition on his new album ’Soul On Fire’”

The interview itself covers details about the single and video for “Can’t Get Enough”, the making of Soul on Fire, working with the producers on the LP, how he formulates the ideas behind his rhymes & lyrics and the general writing process, the formation of Veteran Assassins and the days in when he started out in NC and the artists who acted as his own main influences.
