Released today, “Sunday” marks the final chapter of the forthcoming album ‘Urban Testimony’ by Justo the MC and Brelstaff, out on November 3rd through New Dawn Records.

Track by track the Brooklyn rapper narrates his ill fated time attending Clark Atlanta University, documenting the journey which led to a turning point in life.  A fascinating insight of a mind conflicted with regrets, but here also in the latest offering to one filled with hope for the future and lessons learned.

Brelstaff’s soulful cool groove production mirrors the upbeat renewed sense of optimism contained within the trademark slick rhymes.  Scarred but undaunted and emboldened by second chances, the art of storytelling lives on.

Justo will be performing tracks from the album at Deep Dive in Ithaca on Saturday November 18th as a special guest of Anthony Kannon and Frost Gamble at their “Cautionary Tales” album launch event.

Out today through New Dawn Records, “Cold Start” is the fourth single taken from the upcoming album release “Cautionary Tales” by Anthony Kannon and Frost Gamble, and finds the award winning Ithacan rapper in aspirational mood.

Through a free flowing stream of quick fire rhymes, the desire to break free from the shackles forged by the code of the streets through the power of the pen is clear.  The optimism of ambition to emerge from the rat race focused and unscathed is the narrative, underpinned by Frost’s uptempo soundtrack fused by soulful breaks and beats.

As reported recently, the pair have also just announced two upcoming live events to mark the release of the album on October 20th.  On Thursday October 26th, the pair play The Osborne Taphouse in Winnipeg followed by a further show on Saturday November 18th at Deep Dive in Ithaca where Anthony will perform the entire album with a live band and special guest Justo the MC, while Frost provides a DJ set.

“Cold Start” is available to stream and download from all major digital platforms including Apple / iTunes, Tidal, Amazon and below on Bandcamp and Spotify

The story continues.  Released today and following on from previous single “High”, AA side ‘Falling’ b/w ‘Satan’s Grip’ is the latest chapter from the album “Urban Testimony” by Justo the MC and UK Producer Brelstaff out through New Dawn Records on November 3rd 2023.

The entire theme documents the Brooklyn rapper’s curtailed and traumatic time studying at Clark Atlanta University.  Carrying the weight of expectations from a household of faith, details unfold of a conflicted mind on a potential escape route to academia straying rapidly on a path to hedonism in a brutally honest account of events and consequences.

A chilled soundtrack is the backdrop for the post-traumatic “Falling”, a remorseful narrative reflecting on the mental and physical impacts incurred, while the gritty menacing strains of “Satan’s Grip” fuel a metaphorical conversation on the risks of dancing with the devil.  Intense, compelling and a certified page turner….

Released today, upstate New York rapper Anthony Kannon and producer Frost Gamble return to the ring for another round of gritty beats and bars in “Second Floor”, the third single taken from their album “Cautionary Tales” out on October 20th through New Dawn Records.

The gloves are off in a salvo of punchlines, delivered with laser-like precision while dancing around the hustlers and title contenders.  Blows traded and targets on the ropes, Frost’s powerful soundtrack is the last thing they hear before the bell.  The street’s talking but only one comes out walking…..should’ve come prepared.

News of album launch events scheduled to take place in Canada and New York will be announced shortly.

Available to stream & download on Apple / iTunes, Tidal Music, Amazon Music and below on Bandcamp & Spotify

“Smoother than butter corn”, once again slick flows deliver the jewels as award winning upstate NY rapper Anthony Kannon returns with the new single “Make It Rain”, the second from the album “Cautionary Tales” produced entirely by Frost Gamble which releases October 20th 2023.

Consistent  with the album’s emotionally charged biographical themes reflecting on traumatic childhood experiences, the consequences through adolescence and the subsequent progression to new horizons,  the new joint addresses the journey and struggle to escape the perceptions of the past.

A powerful narrative dipped in the hot sauce of a gritty skewed beat marinated with a generous helping of soul,  a choice cut out now on New Dawn Records.

Music to soothe the soul and help focus with work and study in equal measure, Edinburgh producer Brelstaff has today released his new album “Urban Testimony [The Instrumentals]” through New Dawn Records.

Ten titles fusing chilled, soulful lofi hip hop with downtempo jazz and ambient electronica in an ethereal soundtrack that rests easy on the senses.

Originally operating under his born name Daryl Donald, his reputation as one of the most respected emerging beatmakers in this genre grew from 2017 through a series of projects which generated over a million streams on Spotify, and since adopting the new pseudonym has continued to flourish, most notably earlier this year with the single “Cursive” featuring renowned west coast rapper Fashawn.

The instrumental album is the pre-cursor to the full vocal version which will release later in the year.  A collaborative project with Brooklyn rapper Justo the MC which acts as a narrative documenting his curtailed and turbulent time at Clark Atlanta University, including a fascinating insight and depiction of the trials and tribulations of student life he witnessed there which ultimately led to the crossroads of his life.

Available on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal Music, Bandcamp and Spotify

Another new remix from New Dawn Records, this time by label affiliate Shahin of the single ‘Lame Duck’ originally released in the summer of 2021 and taken from producer Ramson Badbonez’ album “Lead by Example”.

Classic funky drum and & bass loops underpin rugged and raw rhymes from New Jersey  trio Tru Trilla, Fly Kwa and Prince Ak.  Trading fierce bars and punchlines, an onslaught of potent hooks and jabs from the Brick City verbal marksmen are delivered to their targets in a series of lyrical body blows that leave contenders on the canvas.

Released in May 2020, “Panacea” by London rapper Phoenix da Icefire and producer Husky Brown was nominated for “Best Independent Album” at last year’s AIM Awards.  Postponed due to the pandemic, the rescheduled launch event takes place at Brixton Jamm on Friday November 12th as a joint headline with fellow London rapper and producer Ramson Badbonez who will be showcasing tracks from his recently released album “Lead by Example”, both out on New Dawn Records.

This new AA side single by the duo has been released today to mark the event.  The Schifrin-esque soundtrack of “Shake Things Up” fuels a barrage of high octane bars unleashed from a fully loaded verbal armoury, while a sublime blend of choice beats and turntablism laces the specially commissioned remix of “Dark Rainbow Light” courtesy of prolific US producer and DJ Tone Spliff whose multiple credits include work with Recognize Ali, King Magnetic, Ruste Juxx, Melly-Mel, Vic Monroe and many more.
