Their new issue 273 which features The Smiths on the front cover includes a 4 star review of the new Constant Deviants album “Omerta” in its “Urban” column on Page 95, one of only 5 albums to be featured. To find out who the other 4 were, well, you’ll need to go and buy it!

New Constant Deviants Album “Omerta” (Stream) – reviewed by Sagi Hip Hop (France)

Constant Deviants released their new album “Omerta” today, Tuesday June 28th.

A concept album drawing its theme principally from M.I. & Dj Cutt’s Italian and Russian heritage, it’s a series of sonic screenplays with familiar names, times, events and cultural reference points set in the mafiosa underworld through the decades.

Adopting the roles of Lucky Luciano and Lansky, the duo use the traditional hip hop art of storytelling by using the subject matter metaphorically to convey parallel meaning, and to quote M.I. directly “address the lifestyle more intelligently, given it’s been done to death in a cliched way so many times before whether in film or by other artists.”

It’s the pair’s fifth album since their debut “Concrete Utopia” and follows just a year after the critically acclaimed “Avant Garde”.

M.I. from Constant Deviants Special Guest on London’s Pulse88 FM this Sunday & Debuts New Single on Sirius XM

MC M.I. from Constant Deviants will be the special guest on the Linda E Show this coming Sunday, June 19th.

The show broadcasts on London’s Pulse 88 FM from 2pm – 4pm UK GMT (9am – 11am EST) and you can listen online HERE

They will be discussing the new Constant Deviants album “Omerta” which releases on June 28th and aldso his significant move into the world of film making as an actor, writer and producer.

His film “Six2Six” which also co:stars Treach (Naughty by Nature), Syleena Johnson and Chief Rocker Busy Bee has been selected for a special screening at NYC’s Hip Hop Film Festival in August. He is also currently shooting scenes for a new comedy film “Can’t Live Without My Radio”.

New Interview – Constant Deviants talk new Album & Film releases to British Hip Hop Magazine

East coast duo, MC M.I. and DJ Cutt – aka Constant Deviants – release their new album “Omerta” on June 28th through their label Six2Six Records.

The album has a theme in the tradtions of a Prince Paul, Little Brother or Kool Keith release in days gone past. The pair draw on their respective Italian and Russian heritage to adopt roles in a series of audio vignettes with familiar cultural reference points. The mafiosa inference is presented metaphorically to relay comparative situations.

This creative approach is consistent with M.I.’s additional focus in the world of movie making. Acting, film writing and film production has been a new venture since the release of “Swiss Banks” last year, a co:production with their European affiliates SWC Records.

A new movie “Six2Six” which has a completely original storyline with no relation to the label itself co:stars Treach (Naughty by Nature), Syleena Johnson and Chief Rocker Bust Bee, and will be screened by Ralph McDaniels’ Hip Hop Film Festival at the National Black Theater in NYC during the first week of August.

Currently the rapper has been filming scenes for a comedy called “Can’t Live Without My Radio” due for release in 2017.

Italy’s RapManiacz Magazine review Horseshoe Gang album “Anti-Trap Music” & interview MC M.I. from Constant Deviants

As with US / Canadian publication Nine5Four Magazine last week, another has featured two of the artists we work with this week, this time Italian online RapManiacz

Translators at the ready as obviously the articles are written in Italian, but they begin by reviewing the new album “Anti-Trap Music” by west coast rap group Horseshoe Gang which released on April 29th through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment.

The group’s new single “Poor Swagg” is currently building up some airplay, with early support coming in from WHHL St Louis and WJTT Chattanooga. They are also putting together early plans for live performances through the summer and a later tour, while another new album is in the works.

The magazine also jumped on Skype recently to speak with MC M.I. of Constant Deviants who is himself of Italian descent, referred to in the theme of the new album “Omerta” out on June 28th where he assumes the role of Lucky Luciano.

The role playing aspect of the concept album is consistent with M.I.’s additional focus on film writing, acting and film production. His new movie “Six2Six” co:starring Treach, Syleena Johnson and Chief Rocker Busy Bee is set for a special screening at this year’s Hip Hop Film Festival, chaired by Ralph McDaniels, taking place the first week of August at NYC’s National Black Theater.

He has also been shooting scenes for another new movie “Can’t Live Without My Radio” in Baltimore, a comedy set in a radio station, likely to be released in 2017.

Well, it’s not often you get a genuinely good laugh doing this job, but just occasionally something turns up…..

Earlier this week, MC M.I. from Constant Deviants jumped on the phone with DJ D-Money, host of the weekly Fresh Juice Radio Show based out of Washington State.

The pair began by discussing the group’s new album “Omerta” which releases on June 28th, and then moved on to the rapper’s new additional focus of movie making. As co:owner of Six2Six Records, M.I. has become more involved in acting, film writing and film production, and has set up a new subsidiary Six2Six Films.

A new movie “Six2Six” will be screened at Ralph McDaniels’ Hip Hop Film Festival in NYC during August, and co:starring with M.I. is Treach (Naughty by Nature), Syleena Johnson and Chief Rocker Busy Bee. Some of the plot line is explained before the Baltimore MC reveals he is near completion of another new film, this time a comedy, called “Can’t Live Without My Radio”.

Then comes a regular section of the show where rappers play the radio version of the board game “What?”. Among the questions asked are “What do dogs think when owners dress them up in clothes?” and “What would you legalize?”

Nine5Four Magazine operate in the Canadian and US marketplaces, publishing both a physical print and digital online version. Their specific focus is on talent operating in the independent sector, whether musicians, models, DJs, athletes, actors and small business owners.

They balance the coverage with those who have operated in the sector for some time while giving new emerging talent a platform.

In the new issue, they have featured two of the artists we are currently working with.

Adorning the front cover is west coast rap crew Horseshoe Gang who released their new album “Anti-Trap Music” on April 29th. The album sold out Amazon‘s initial CD stock, within a week charted Top 50 on iTunes in 15 different countries, and has had over 100,000 streams to date. The magazine carries an in depth two page interview with the group.

4 Star Review of Constant Deviants Album “Omerta” in UK’s Blues & Soul Magazine

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Constant Deviants’ classic Competition Catch Speed Knots, and the two soldiers of hip hop, MC M.I. and DJ Cutt are upping the ante this year.

They’re following last year’s critically acclaimed “Avant Garde” with the release of another new album “Omerta” on June 28th. The UK’s long running publication Blues & Soul has just afforded it a 4 star review in its new issue (1027) which hit stores’ shelves yesterday. We’re not at liberty to reproduce the entire review here, but it can be read on Page 47 if you pick up a copy from selected stores, or indeed order it worldwide via their official WEBSITE

We have also learned that among the other publications to confirm their intent to feature the release is the globally renowned MOJO Magazine. You will be able to read what they have to say at the time of the album’s release.

As co:owner of Six2Six Records, M.I. has also made significant moves into the world of film making. As an actor, soundtrack producer, writer and the driving force behind the new sub division Six2Six Films, he appeared in last year’s “Swiss Banks”, a co-production with European affiliates SWC Records.

It will begin with an appearance on DJ Eclipse’s Sirius XM Rap is Outta Control Show on Sunday June 26th, Eclipse having given their new joint “Cutt for President” its first airplay earlier this week

Horseshoe Gang album “Anti-Trap Music” reviewed by Examiner.com

West coast hip hop group Horseshoe Gang released their new album “Anti-Trap Music” on Friday, April 29th.

It has already reached iTunes top 50 in 15 separate countries having been one of their few selected featured album releases last week, and Amazon are currently re-stocking on CD’s having sold out in the first hour of release.

The album has just been reviewed by Examiner. An in-depth piece, though to correct a slight detail this is in fact the group’s fourth official studio album, it provides an intelligent appraisal of the various concepts behind the release and the subject matter being addressed.
