Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble release their new album “Black Beach” through 22 Entertainment on May 26th. Currently available to pre-order on iTunes

Part recorded at Mr Porter’s original studio in Detroit, the themes are politically charged as a perspective on the “black experience” of today’s America. Guest featured artists include KXNG Crooked (aka Crooked I), Boldy James, Sadat-X, Guilty Simpson and Young Bleed.

An early review has just been published by US online Vann Digital, acknowledging the serious issues addressed while recognizing the diversity and evolution of styles contained within the release. The influences are evident, drawing from the earliest days of Motown to the grittier side of contemporary rap while underpinned by Frost’s trademark productions via a trusty AKAI.

Last week, Edinburgh based journalist Peter Johnstone chopped it up with Detroit rapper ZotheJerk ahead of the release of his new album “Black Beach” on May 26th.

Produced by Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble, originally from NY State, it also features Sadat-X, Boldy James, Guilty Simpson, KXNG Crooked, Young Bleed, Tone Chop & more.

The resultant feature published by long running UK online “British Hip Hop” begins with a summary review of the album, noting its themes of relating the current experience of “black America” through skilled lyricism and storytelling, while in one of the stand out tracks “Keep Me Safe” representing the importance of providing strong paternal role models for the next generation.

The article finishes with a one to one interview where Zo touches upon his past, the main messages of the new album, working with Frost Gamble and progression from the underground scene.

Earlier this week, Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble spoke with French online In The Mood TV

In the new video interview published online today, the pair discuss the themes and concepts behind their new album “Black Beach” which releases on May 26th through 22 Entertainment.

With Zo having re-located to Ohio, he explains why he returned to Detroit for part of the recording process which took place at Mr Porter’s previous studio where Eminem’s “Infinite” was originally written, while Frost explains the influence being in the city had on his production approach to the album.

They also discuss how they first met and the logistical aspects of working together despite the distances involved, while Zo, who appeared in the film “8 Mile”, gives his thoughts on artists’ contribution to the local community given he received a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for mentoring work with youth projects.

Published today in France’s online platform HipHop 4 Life is an exclusive new interview with Detroit MC Kid Vishis, and the premiere of his new freestyle video

In the feature written in both French & English, they discuss his new album “Timing is Everything” which released on 22nd July, he speaks about life growing up around artists such as his elder brother Royce da 5’9″ and Eminem, their body of work and the experience gained by touring with D12.

They then discuss the art of lyricism in hip hop today and the Total Slaughter event in NYC which he attended and his thoughts on appearing at their rap battles in the future, he speaks on the Detroit scene and artists he rates as the “ones to watch”, producers he’d like to work with and tells of his meeting with J Dilla back in the day.

Finishing with his plans to tour France and the rest of Europe, the feature then concludes with the premiere of his new freestyle video shot in the lab in Detroit
