Binghamton rapper and producer duo Tone Chop & Frost Gamble, the latter now based in Canada, drop their new album “Beautiful Foundations” through New Dawn Records on May 15th this year.

The title track was released last month as a single, available from all digital platforms and stores, while the official video was published on Youtube

They have just recorded a special “Beautiful Foundations Freestyle” where Chop in customary fashion gets busy on the mic with a neat twist by dropping the names of all the album tracks in his bars.

He linked up recently with local videographer Lil Kurby, who also filmed the official single video, to take to the snowbound streets of Binghamton for some new visuals which you can now watch on Youtube.

The album itself was recorded by the pair to mark their long standing friendship and working relationship together dating back three decades, and features many of those they’ve met and built with on the journey.

A landmark release, they have also filmed an accompanying documentary which details their earliest days together, maps out the trials and tribulations they encountered on the way and of course speaks on the new project. It’s a must watch for all interested in hip hop’s history and culture, and will resonate with independent artists everywhere. Look out for this dropping shortly after the album.

Plans are also underway for a special launch event to take place in their hometown, with details due to be announced in the coming months.

The next single will be “Play No Games” on February 10th with features cuts by DJ Eclipse [Shade 45 / Sirius XM – Rap Is Outta Control Show]. You can hear a snippet of it as part of the Official Album Video Trailer which was released late last year.

Back at it again, Brick City’s Tru Trilla returns today with the AA side single “Respectfully”, lifted from last year’s album ‘XVI : Return of the Gods’ released through New Dawn Records.

Laced throughout with the kind of bullish bars and beats which earned it a front page spotlight on Bandcamp, the New Jersey veteran assembled a heavyweight line up of guest featured artists and producers to deliver a classic soundtrack fuelled by the highest calibre lyrical firepower.

Produced by Frost Gamble, the latest cut is a further testament to the levels.  Tru drops knowledge with Brooklyn’s Justo the MC and Floridian NapsNdreds in another showcase of dexterous rhymes and slick flows by verbal marksmen at the height of their game.  The narrative is reinforced by the “Qataban Remix” courtesy of label affiliate Shahin, flipping the script with an intense fusion of strings, breaks and sub Saharan flavas that hits differently.

A long time affiliate of Naughty by Nature and Lords of the Underground, the Brick City veteran has gathered together a heavyweight line up of guest featured artists and producers from around the United States and beyond for this, the follow up to his critically acclaimed “God of Barz” released almost exactly four years ago to the day in 2020.

Hip Hop label New Dawn Records have today announced the signing of Brooklyn rapper Justo the MC and Edinburgh based producer Brelstaff for the release of their new album “Urban Testimony” on November 3rd 2023.

Justo has been a regular fixture in the eastcoast underground scene for many years, first emerging in 2010 while working with his cousin and producer DJ Vic Black of Gangstarr Foundation.  The video for their joint “It’s Our Year” released in 2011 featured DJ Premier, and the pair would hook up again in 2017 on Justo’s album “Black Ops” produced entirely by DITC’s Showbiz, executively produced and curated by Vic assisted by DJ Premier. 

Since then there has been prolific output through worldwide collaborations including Canadian production team The Lost Info, Brooklyn’s Maticulous, Italy’s Bboy Enea, Nova Scotian DK, the UK’s Remulak and for the first time in 2021 with Brelstaff on their joint “Swagu”.

In  2014 while performing under his born name Daryl Donald, Brel released his debut EP “Kept” and the collaborative album “The Clockwork” with south London emcee Cutta Chase.  The release of his instrumental album “Solitude” in 2017 followed in 2019 by “Behold the Spirit” and “Full Circle” built up his reputation as one of the most respected new emerging underground lo fi hip hop producers from these shores, attracting a total of 450,000 listeners and a million streams on Spotify.

Subsequently having adopted the new pseudonym, he released the self titled “Brelstaff” in 2020, and returned to the public arena in February 2023 with the new joint “Cursive” featuring the legendary Fashawn, followed in April by the release of the instrumental version of “Urban Testimony” through New Dawn, securing play on the BBC Radio 1 & Radio 6 show “Focus Beats” in the process.

The new album documents what Justo  describes as the “arrival at a crossroads from a life defining year”.  A deeply personal narrative which provides a fascinating insight depicting events leading up to and during his curtailed stay at Clark Atlanta University, and he has again turned to Brelstaff to accompany him on his journey.    Beautifully crafted, fuelled by skilful lyricism addressing the core messages of mental health, hedonism, loss of faith, redemption and renewed focus all set to the perfect musical score. The perfect partnership.       

A series of singles will precede the album release beginning on August 1st with “High”.  All will be available to download and stream from major digital platforms including Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon.  Videos for all tracks will appear on the label’s official Youtube channel @newdawnrecords where you can now watch the album video trailer.
