CD-BlacksheepA

Constant Deviants release their fourth studio album Avant Garde on 12th May 2015, and the UK’s online publication Blacksheep Magazine have just published their review, affording the release a 4 star rating.

The veteran duo of Baltimore emcee M.I. and New Jersey producer DJ Cutt have been prolific over the past few years since the setting up of their own Six2Six Records imprint, with a string of releases on vinyl, CD and digital formats. Their early releases “Competition Catch Speed Knots” and “Can’t Stop” date back to the 1990’s and led to a time in the Major sector working with Arista and Roc-A-Fella records before returning to the independent fold since 2009.

Their musical evolution still retains the classic hallmarks of hip hop’s Golden Era as is reflected in Blacksheep writer Andrew Kay’s review which can be read HERE

Taken from the new album, their most recent official video release was for the track “Breathin'”

Producer DJ Cutt and emcee M.I., now based in New Jersey and Baltimore respectively, have today released the second official video taken from the new project. The follow up to “The Right Moment” released late last year, “Breathin” incorporates the classic Constant Deviants sound. ALBUM COVER

Constant Deviants have confirmed the release date of their fourth studio album “Avant Garde” as 12th May 2015 which will be available on their own label Six2Six Records.

As the name suggests, the new 15 track album takes the true essence of a past era and applies a contemporary twist for today. Since the release of their debut 12″ single ‘Competition Catch Speed Knots’ in 1996, these hip hop veterans worked with major labels Arista and Roc-A-Fella on various projects before returning to the independent sector with the formation of their label.

Their debut album ‘Concrete Utopia’ in 2010 was followed by ‘Amongst Friends’ (2011) and ‘Diamond’ (2012) and now with Avant Garde, two decades of experience shine through. M.I.’s lyricism is perfectly complimented by DJ Cutt’s production and turntablism, resulting in a release with a sophisticated maturity by a duo at ease with their craft.

They have just launched the official album trailer video on Vimeo
