Detroit’s Kid Vishis is ending the year strong with the second official release from his forthcoming album due out in March 2014 on Seven 13 Music.

The younger brother of Royce da 5 9 has teamed up with Sacramento producers Hippie Sabotage and Australian native Chase Moore, now also based in Sacramento, on this banger “Look At All My $**t” where Vishis verbally assassinates the fake ballers with no dollars

Coming hard on the heels of his recent “Heaven” release, it’s another early taster of the impressive wordplay and lyrical skills we can expect to hear on his debut studio LP which also includes production from Freddie Foxxx and Shady’s Mr Porter

Butta Da Prince first set the Chicago streets buzzin with the release of his 2009 Mixtape “Millionaire Minded : The Album Before the Album” produced by DJ Holiday. He worked with Holiday again on 2011’s “Butta” before releasing 2012’s “The King and Da Prince”, this time hosted by DJ Hustlenomics

Since then, Butta has teamed up with Seven 13 Music. They’ve just revisited the joint “Dolla Bills” from last year’s release to give it the remix treatment, and this time Slaughterhouse’s Crooked I also brings some additional lyrical heat to the table on this 808 bass heavy production

Now working on new material for 2014, the track is available on iTunes HERE

RPL-MOJOsml

We said that the debut solo album by London’s Apex Zero was one of the biggest for UK hip hop in 2013, and it appears that the internationally renowned publication that is MOJO Magazine would agree.

In their current edition celebrating their 20th anniversary, they have afforded “Reality Provoking Liberation” a 4 star review, describing it as a “DIY stunner” which will have “Fans of Triple Darkness, Dead Prez and Immortal Technique piqued by the arrival of fresh political rap blood

It’s been a key underlying factor in the level of media interest created by the album from the rapper & producer, the mix of political and social issues addressed with a fierce delivery and conscientious lyricism, once a standard for the genre but a rarer entity in recent times. But green shoots of recovery are evident in releases from both sides of the Atlantic in the past couple of years, and Apex Zero has emerged as another new name adding his own weight to the re-establishment of the anti-establishment.

The album is out now, available to buy in digital and CD format HERE

You can expect to see more coverage on the release in the weeks ahead, and he is also preparing the release of his new video for “Absolute Zero” on Monday 4th November. He is also preparing for his album launch party on Saturday 7th December which will take place upstairs at The Vibe Bar, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. He is putting together a special set with his live band for the night, which will also see performances by Caxton Press and Triple Darkness’ newest member Iron Braydz accompanied by DJ A Gee (Itch FM) and host Peaches.

The night runs from 8pm – 1am, £5.00 on the door, nearest tube station is Aldgate East. You can see more details about the venue at www.vibe-bar.co.uk

Riding in on the back of St Jude’s Storm which hit the southern UK this morning, the 28th October arrived and with it the release date of the debut solo album by west London’s rapper & producer Apex Zero.

Having released his mixtape The Pulse of the Awakening almost exactly a year ago, the new album “Reality Provoking Liberation” is 15 tracks of hard spittin, conscientious lyricism and raw energy which has received plaudits for the range of political and social issues addressed in the rhymes

Having been influenced by artists such as Wu Tang, dead prez, Immortal Technique, Phi Life Cypher, Blak Twang, Skinnyman and Klashnekoff, comparisons have been made by the media to UK hip hop contemporaries such as Lowkey, Akala & Triple Darkness for the manner in which he tears into the subject matter and brings meaning to the tracks in the best traditions of the culture.

Already reviewed and interviewed by a wide range of publications, including Flavour, Clash, Wordplay, Bearded, The Skinny, In-Spirels, The Word is Bond, Whatculture, MOJO, Subba Cultcha, AAA Music, Sampleface, Blacksheep and much more….with much more to come….it has been as anticipated a highly impressive debut from the emcee who remains a member of the city’s First and Last duo.

Released today independently on his own Design Chaos label, it is available to buy digitally or in physical format via mail order. BUY IT HERE

RPL-Blacksheep

British publication Blacksheep Magazine has a long history of reporting on international hip hop & rap music news, events, releases & features.

Their regular contributor Andrew Kay took several listens through the new album by London’s Apex Zero. Out on 28th October, “Reality Provoking Liberation” is his debut solo album, although has released a previous mixtape in 2012 “The Pulse of the Awakening” and was previously known as part of the duo First and Last (still going strong) and the group The Pantheonz of Zenn-La.

Coming up through London events such as End of the Weak & Speaker’s Corner, and as part of these groups, he became known for his lyricism covering a wide range of political and social issues combined with a fiery delivery style. The review touches upon this in “The anger and the passion command every verse enabled by some wonderfully fluid production“, the production in the large part also courtesy of Apex Zero with further contributions from First and Last’s OMeziah

With comparisons of the “social commentary” made with artists such as Public Enemy, Immortal Technique and Brother Ali with a “rich London and UK centric vibe to it” the review then proceeds through a track by track breakdown, summarized as a whole with the description “an album of reportage, a war report from the tower blocks of a stark, cold Big Smoke, where social injustice and human enslavement are commented upon with the fist pumping ire of a frustrated humanist.
