Hopefully 2014 will be as good as 2013 for touring hip hop artists to the UK and Europe, and this line up announced for early next year certainly indicates a promising start.

Redphone Records, Seven 13 Entertainment & Deep Concerts Media have come together to present a new tour featuring Queensbridge vets Nature & Blaq Poet, Detroit’s next name to watch out for (& younger brother of Royce da 5 9) Kid Vishis, and current Hawaii resident by way of Long Beach southern California Matt Maddox.

Also on tour will be DJ Mickey Knox who mixed Nature’s mixtape Ashtray Effect 2 earlier this year. As the tour name suggests, Matt Maddox celebrates the release of his new album “Righteous Fury” in good company, as Blaq Poet gets ready to release his new album Blaq Death, & Vishis prepares to launch a new mixtape shortly ahead of a new official album due in 2014. Next year should also mark the long awaited new studio album from Nature

The tour is in the early stages of organizing, with 4 dates already confirmed :

Barcelona 18th February
Madrid 19th February
Tenerife, Canary Islands 20th February
Zarragoza 21st February

UrbanElite PR are assisting Red Phone & DCM and are pleased to advise that dates are still available for Europe & the UK, whether before the dates in Spain or in the 2 weeks after.

Venue & club promoters interested in booking a show can contact UrbanElite PR HERE for further details and to be put in direct contact with the sole official representative for these artists in relation to the tour.

MagnaCarta-HipHopisAWOL

With Melanin 9’s debut album “Magna Carta” releasing on iTunes today, you will see a lot of international media covering the record in the next couple of weeks.

Latest is Hip Hop is AWOL, based over in Ireland, and as the name suggests regularly covers a lot of international videos, singles and albums. Owner Ruairi tells us that Magna Carta is in his top 3 albums for 2012 along with Roc Marciano (who features on Melanin 9’s video “White Russian) and Ka.

A great supporter of UK hip hop, he reflects on other British artists who have made some international headway this year citing Genesis Elijah’s appearance with Royce da 5 9 on Copywrite’s album (another handled by UrbanElite PR) together with Melanin 9’s own progress :

Hopefully this is the start of UK Hip Hop getting its proper recognition on the international stage and no better album to lead the charge than M9’s Magna Carta

The unprecedented support from Stateside onlines such as Nah Right, Hip Hop DX, 2Dopeboys, The Source and Complex combined with UK publications MOJO, Clash, Guestlist, Q Magazine (end of December) and many more does suggest that the traditional sound of hip hop isnt so much making a comeback, but now receiving wider recognition for its longevity and being introduced to a new generation.

Melanin 9’s wordplay, lyricism and subject matter leans towards the ethos of The Golden Era of hip hop in the 90’s, but the album is broader than that with a willingness to push the boundaries more in its beats and production. It takes from the past to be relevant in the present

Latest review of Copywrite’s new album “God Save The King (Proper English Version)” which releases on Man Bites Dog Records on 7th August

This one is in Rago Magazine, run by the guys from Wolftown Recordings, Tricksta & Late.

Those boys have been involved in UK hip hop for many years and consistently been putting out their own products internationally as well as running the magazine, several different blogs and various other ventures. Respect the grind

Here Tricksta pretty much goes in on his assessment of this album!! No holds barred, he definitely gives it the seal of approval :

“Well my friends, it’s like this, if you don’t like something on this album then you are either a hater, deaf or totally lost the plot”

Lol, no messin about in a true West Midlands stylee!!
