The new “Rapture & Verse” hip hop column written by Matt Oliver for ‘Monolith Cocktail’ has just been published.

It’s a monthly bite size round up of all hip hop news items, events, and releases to look out for whether singles, EP’s or albums.

Among the many artists covered in the latest edition are Datkid, Onoe Capone, Ill Bill & Stu Bangas, Guilty Simpson, Madlib, Nottz, Black Milk, Westside Gunn, Conway, Apollo Brown, Quelle Chris.

Having just re-launched after a 15 year hiatus, New Dawn Records released the Belles in Monica EP “Y’All in Meltdown” on April 26th and the new Underground Cartel single “Evolution” b/w “Diggin Deeper” on Friday, taken from the “Sapientia EP” out on May 17th

Underground Cartel are an international hip hop collaborative project involving artists from all over the USA, UK, Europe and Africa including Madrid’s El Meswy, Beni Blanco from French crew ‘Originaire du Sud’, Long Beach’s Swiss Precise, Virginia’s Black Market, the UK’s Rapstation host Mr CRF, Zimbabwe’s Dumi Right, the late, great Primo from legendary Italian crew Cor Veleno and many more.

Kansas based emcee Matt Maddox teams up with Canadian producer Engineer (Ras Kass, Immortal Technique, Sean Price, Termanology) on this new single “No Country For Old Men” delivering a raucous tribute to legends in the game while taking aim at the portrayal of the culture today.

The official video has just been launched, the second taken from his new album “Righteous Fury” following on from the recent release of BARbarians

2014 looks set to be a busy year for the ex Guerilla War Tactix member with the album due out via the partnership of Red Phone Records and Seven 13 Music on February 25th, and tours of Europe and Australia due in early Spring.

Former Guerilla War Tactix member Matt Maddox releases his new solo album “Righteous Fury” on 25th February, the long awaited follow up to his debut solo release for Red Phone Records “Asylum Artistry” in 2010

The Kansas based emcee comes hard out the blocks on this single BARbarians produced by Hellzwind, where he’s also joined on the mic by Godilla, UG and Born Unique. Its been an epic journey, but the day has finally arrived

After the initial concept of the album was born during the first couple of months of 2011, and after a very long & winding road in the months which followed, Copywrite’s new album “God Save The King (Proper English Version)” releases today on Man Bites Dog Records

A Stateside version called simply “God Save The King” was released with an entirely different tracklisting in the States in February 2012, however this version took the longest to complete given the massive array of international talent from the UK, United States and Canada who also feature.

Needless to say, the UK media have taken a huge interest in the release over the past few months, with nearly 30 separate magazines either reviewing or publishing interviews (with more to come), djs & online platforms from both sides of the Atlantic jumping all over the various single releases and videos, with further UK satellite tv station support.

Latest to give props to the album is The Hip Hop Village, the people behind which also run 16 Bars Magazine
