It’s all in the name with “The Smoothest” catching the vibe. A tribute to the lyrical golden era of New York in a showcase of wordplay delivering a salvo of old and new school slang. Chop’s trademark bullish bars and the effortless flows of fellow Upstate marksmen Decon Blu and Pa Pa Fresh dictate the narrative, the three re-united from their earlier Four Sportsmen project.
Driven along by the customary slick productions with Frost at the wheel, it’s a classic recipe. Seasoned campaigners shelling rhymes with ease over a luscious beat immersed in soulful flavas and exquisite turntablism. Done and dusted, the bragging rights are well earned.

Hip Hop label New Dawn Records have today announced that they will be releasing the new album “Beautiful Foundations” by New York State rapper and producer duo Tone Chop & Frost Gamble on May 15th 2026.
We first worked with the pair back in 2016 when they released their “Veteran EP”, then again the following year for their album “Respect is Earned Not Given”.
They enjoyed extensive media coverage worldwide for these releases, culminating in an appearance on DJ Eclipse’s Rap Is Outta Control Show on Sirius XM
This kick started a phase which has seen them become one of the most prolifc partnerships in recent years, with a quite outstanding back catalogue of singles and EP in their armoury.
The new album is a celebration of their friendship and working together for over three decades, and coincidentally will be released during the label’s own 30th anniversary year. It features many new upcoming artists from their hometown Binghamton together with those they’ve built with over the years.
Included are DJ Eclipse, Pf Cuttin, DJ J Smooth, Decon Blu, Pa Pa Fresh, The Bad Seed, Fresh I.E and The Bad Seed
The pair have also just completed filming a new documentary about their time together, from the earliest days of recording in their basement during the 90’s right up to the present day. We’ve had the fortune to have an advanced viewing and it’s a fascinating insight not only about their own story, but the development of hip hop itself over the years. Authentically powerful, the young lyricist draws on his own real life battles and challenging circumstances to convey a wide range of subject matter represented throughout the aptly titled release. Having survived the trauma of being shot by armed intruders to the family home, it is a remarkable journey encapsulated in a series of biographical depictions, all with an underlying theme of survival, escape, progression and transformation.
This is Storyville of a life less ordinary handled with impressive maturity through a narrative packed full of dope rhymes and skillful wordplay set to the highest caliber soundtrack provided by Frost, himself a Juno Awards nominee for his production on Fresh IE’s “Ill Street Blues” in 2020.
The pair have two upcoming album launch events, the first at The Osborne Taphouse, Winnipeg on Thursday October 26th, then on Saturday November 18th at Deep Dive, Ithaca.

Recipient of the title “Best Rapper” at the Ithaca Music Awards in 2019, Anthony Kannon has enjoyed a rapid rise in recognition as one of the most highly rated talents to emerge from NY State in recent years.
His new album “Cautionary Tales” releases on October 20th a collaborative project with veteran producer Frost Gamble, originally from nearby Binghamton and now resident in Canada.
Local media outlets were quick to pick up on the story of his signing with New Dawn Records for the release including a feature in The Ithaca Voice newspaper, a report aired live on tv news station WENY and an interview broadcast on local commercial radio station Z95.5 FM.
The first single from the album “Pitfalls” released today and addresses his own personal growth. Particularly well known for his extensive catalogue with long time sparring partner Tone Chop, the prolific beatmaker has released further projects with Tragedy Khadafi, KXNG Crooked, Horseshoe Gang and Craig G while producing his “Sixteens” series of instrumentals. Some of his earliest collaborative projects included productions for Young Bleed, Sadat X, J-Ro, Doc Ice and Tahmell, son of the legendary Rakim, while in 2013 he contributed to Fresh I.E.’s “Red Letterz 13” which duly won “Album of the Year” at the Canadian Gospel Music Awards.
A series of singles will precede the album release beginning on June 6th with “Pitfalls”. Binghamton NY rapper Tone Chop and Winnipeg based producer Tone Chop release their debut collaboration EP “Veteran” on November 18th through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment.

Available to pre-order on ITUNES, the 7 tracks are the product of two artists who began as rap battle rivals in upstate NY before becoming partners in rhyme and tagging. Frost’s subsequent move to Canada saw the pair pursue solo careers, Chop releasing a whole series of mixtapes including collaborations with Tom Gist, St Laz and Jinx Da Juvy.
Now fully focused on beatmaking, Frost’s earlier productions saw him work with Sadat-X, Rakim’s son Tahmell and J-Ro. Earlier this year he contributed to Seven 13’s “God Bless Dope Rappers” compilation which also featured Royce da 5’9″, Horseshoe Gang, Kid Vishis and Crooked I.
The first single from the EP “Leave It Alone” featuring Ruste Juxx & Nobi is their tribute to the late Sean Price, while the recent bonus cut “Being A Boss” splices up the Jadakiss & Nate Dogg joint “Time’s Up” for the hook. Check them out
