Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and NY State producer Frost Gamble, now resident in Winnipeg, are set to release their new album “Black Beach” on May 26th. Featuring KXNG Crooked, Sadat X, Guilty Simpson and Boldy James it is a poltically charged take on today’s “Black America” by a lyricist in receipt of a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for mentoring work in his community.

The pair sat down recently to speak on camera to US online “The Underground Hip Hop”.

They discuss their earliest days in music and the artists which influenced them the most, and the circumstances by which they first met. On the album itself, they explain their writing process together and the subject matters addressed before moving on to discuss today’s world of hip hop and rap music more generally.

The interview concludes with the duo outlining their plans for the future

Part recorded at Mr Porter’s original studio in Detroit, the themes are politically charged as a perspective on the “black experience” of today’s America. Guest featured artists include KXNG Crooked (aka Crooked I), Boldy James, Sadat-X, Guilty Simpson and Young Bleed.

An early review has just been published by US online Vann Digital, acknowledging the serious issues addressed while recognizing the diversity and evolution of styles contained within the release. The influences are evident, drawing from the earliest days of Motown to the grittier side of contemporary rap while underpinned by Frost’s trademark productions via a trusty AKAI.

Earlier this week, Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble spoke with French online In The Mood TV

In the new video interview published online today, the pair discuss the themes and concepts behind their new album “Black Beach” which releases on May 26th through 22 Entertainment.

With Zo having re-located to Ohio, he explains why he returned to Detroit for part of the recording process which took place at Mr Porter’s previous studio where Eminem’s “Infinite” was originally written, while Frost explains the influence being in the city had on his production approach to the album.

They also discuss how they first met and the logistical aspects of working together despite the distances involved, while Zo, who appeared in the film “8 Mile”, gives his thoughts on artists’ contribution to the local community given he received a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for mentoring work with youth projects.

Ahead of the release of their new collaborative album “Black Beach” in May, Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble sat down for a quick talk with US online Illuminati2G

The pair discuss the musical and lyrical concepts behind the album and single “Risk vs Reward” ft Sadat-X, their plans for new videos and tours and other ongoing projects.

Although Zo subsequently moved from Michigan to Kansas and is now currently residing in Ohio, Detroit is at the heart of the release. The initial recording process took place at Mr Porter’s previous studio where Eminem’s “Infinite” was written, and includes features from Guilty Simpson and Boldy James.

New single “Risk vs Reward” by Detroit rapper ZotheJerk featuring Brand Nubian’s Sadat-X released today on 22 Entertainment.

It’s the first to be taken from the album “Black Beach”, a collaboration between Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble and Zo who previously appeared in the film “8 Mile” and was signed by the late Proof of D12 to his Ironfist label. Now re-located to Ohio via Kansas, he received the title “Humanitarian of the Year” at the Kansas City Music Awards in 2014 for mentoring work in the community.

NY State rapper Tone Chop and producer Frost Gamble released their “Veteran EP” in November last year.

Still enjoying coast to coast airplay for their single “Leave It Alone”, a tribute to the late Sean Price, the pair are now back in the lab working on an album and have today released the new video “Yes He Can”. Directed by Big Drew Grafix, the Binghamton battler delivers another salvo of his trademark punchline bars over Frost’s raw kicks and snares.

Having just released their new EP “Veteran” on November 18th, NY State rapper Tone Chop and producer Frost Gamble, now relocated to Winnipeg, sat down with US online publication The Underground Hip Hop

In the new feature the pair discuss their earliest days and inspirations, and give the reasons why the new EP is a landmark in their careers to date. Having originally met at rap battles during the 90’s, the duo speak about longevity and determination as independent artists, and how they see their brand of hip hop sitting in future in such a diverse marketplace.

During the article they also mention the value they place on their loyal fanbase, and the lessons they’ve learned over the years within the industry as they plan ahead for a new album release in 2017.

Shortly after the release of their new EP “Veteran”, Ny’s Tone Chop & Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble jumped on Skype with Ayla Dhyani, editor of online publication “Tone MVMT”.

In the interview feature published today, they discuss how the pair first met at rap battles in upstate New York during the 90’s and how they managed to remain in sync through the years despite Frost’s relocation to Canada.
