In just under two weeks, eastcoast rapper / producer duo Tone Chop & Frost Gamble release their new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” through 22 Entertainment whose back catalogue includes Royce da 5’9″, Fashawn, KXNG Crooked, Joe Budden, J-Kwon.

Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and producer Frost Gamble released their collaborative album “Black Beach” on Friday May 26th through 22 Entertainment.

The latest review comes from US online “Triple OT”, a site with a focus on music and basketball. The appraisal is in depth, an appreciation of the production styles which draw from the finest tradtions of J Dilla & Premo, the choice samples used and the soundscape this provides Zo’s impassioned rhymes.

There is an acknowledgement of the themes addressed, including issues which gave rise to the Black Lives Matter movement, a sense of identity, the importance of family, aspiration and an undetered feeling of hope.

The album “Black Beach” is Detroit rapper ZotheJerk’s social commentary on the existence for many in today’s Black America written from his own experiences and cataloguing those of others.

Issues of police brutality, oppression and injustices are laid out like an open wound while balanced by the acceptance of the responsibility a positive paternal role model must shoulder to break the cycle of self inflicted urban decay. He offers messages of hope and aspiration, and walks the walk having received a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for mentoring work in the community.

Lyrically intense, the musical backdrop is provided by one of the fastest emerging producers in hip hop, NYC State’s Frost Gamble who is now resident in Winnipeg, Canada. The crate digger fuses jazz, soul, r&b and electronica for a contemporary take on traditional techniques, with some turntablism thrown into the mix.

Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and NY State producer Frost Gamble, now resident in Winnipeg, are set to release their new album “Black Beach” on May 26th. Featuring KXNG Crooked, Sadat X, Guilty Simpson and Boldy James it is a poltically charged take on today’s “Black America” by a lyricist in receipt of a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for mentoring work in his community.

The pair sat down recently to speak on camera to US online “The Underground Hip Hop”.

They discuss their earliest days in music and the artists which influenced them the most, and the circumstances by which they first met. On the album itself, they explain their writing process together and the subject matters addressed before moving on to discuss today’s world of hip hop and rap music more generally.

The interview concludes with the duo outlining their plans for the future

New single “My Negus” released today by Detroit rapper ZotheJerk featuring legendary Random Axe frontman Guilty Simpson.

It’s the second to be taken from his new album “Black Beach” produced entirely by Frost Gamble, a prolific beatmaker originally from NY State but now based in Winnipeg, and follows “Risk vs Reward” featuring Sadat X.

Out on May 26th, the album also features KXNG Crooked, Boldy James, Young Bleed and Tone Chop. Politically charged, the themes are Zo’s perspective on today’s “Black America”, an MC in receipt of a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for mentoring work in the community. Last week, Detroit rapper ZotheJerk jumped on Skype to speak with Australian online magazine Tone MVMT ahead of the release of his new album “Black Beach” on May 26th which is produced entirely by Frost Gamble and also features KXNG Crooked, Boldy James, Sadat-X, Guilty Simpson, Young Bleed and many more.

Much of the subject matter of the album reflects the current everday experience of “Black America”, and the interview addresses these issues and the motivations behind the lyrical content. The conversation then moves on to the dynamics of working with a producer while separated by different locations, and Zo then goes on to speak about his experience of re-locating first of all from Michigan to Kansas, and subsequently to Ohio.

The feature wraps up as they discuss his switch of creativity to a style he has dubbed “Hip Hop Soul Music”, before concluding with is thoughts on his pinnacle moment of his jounrey through hip hop

NY State rapper Tone Chop and producer Frost Gamble released their “Veteran EP” in November last year.

Still enjoying coast to coast airplay for their single “Leave It Alone”, a tribute to the late Sean Price, the pair are now back in the lab working on an album and have today released the new video “Yes He Can”. Directed by Big Drew Grafix, the Binghamton battler delivers another salvo of his trademark punchline bars over Frost’s raw kicks and snares.

Late last year, Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble dropped by the Trendkill Productions studio to check in with local rap battle league Dragon Battlez.

The new video just published begins with the regular DBZ Hotbox Cypher, Frost Gamble providing the beat for local MC’s White Rhino, Bayle, CJ the Grey and Bangem – and those boys got skillz !

This is followed by an in depth interview with the beatmaker, discussing his relocation from Binghamton in NY state and his history there with rapper Tone Chop, the pair having just released their new EP “Veteran” in November
