Crowned once again as “Hip Hop Artist of the Year” at last month’s Cincinnati Entertainment Awards, Buggs tha Rocka has just featured in the new issue of France’s “Hip Hop Breathe” magazine.

He discusses his latest album “Scattered Thoughts of an American Poet” which released as a free download on 10th December 2014, and includes production by Sal Dali, Hop Trax, !llmind and Jake One with a wide array of featured artists including Tanya Morgan, Chuck Inglish, MOOD, Phoenix Aphrodite and Piakhan.

He also speaks on his future plans and the possibility of working with legendary producer Hi Tek, the artists who have influenced him the most over the years and the subject matters and various artistic outlets that inspire him the most.

Voted “Hip Hop Artist of 2014” at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards, Buggs has made a significant international impact in two short months with this release, and you can expect to see further press coverage from titles in the USA, UK and Europe in the weeks ahead, together with further official video releases. Since October, he has performed for the second year running with Talib Kweli at the A3C Festival in Atlanta, opened for Bone Thugs n Harmony and performed with Mac Miller & Clockwork DJ at the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles alongside Pharrell Williams, Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler the Creator & Rick Ross.

He also helped put together the “Resurrection of Hip Hop II” event in Cincinnati in October. US online publication Dead End Hip Hop are the latest to run the rule over the new album “Scattered Thoughts of an American Poet” by Cincinnati rapper Buggs tha Rocka

In this review, written by Samuel Odunsi Jr, the eclectic mix of hip hop, r&b, soul and jazz present throughout the album is highlighted and commended. The album is a mix of Buggs’ own scattered thoughts about a variety of issues, and the production reflects the mood and his own diverse influences and tastes.

A year in the making, it was put together as a meeting of like minds, organically, and mixes the range of production styles from Illmind, Jake One, Kill Wil, Sal Dali and Hop Trax with the variance in delivery techniques by Tanya Morgan, Chuck Inglish, MOOD, Piakhan and includes soulful vocals from Aida Chakra, Phoenix Aphrodite and Pappadon.

Despite this approach, there is a coherent theme running throughout, as picked up by the reviewer in his summary :

“After my initial listen of the album, I was debating which section I enjoyed the most (the introductory tracks, the middle tracks, or the concluding tracks) and really I made no definitive choice. I instead came to the conclusion that I really enjoyed the whole album. In its entirety it felt focused and it properly maintained….if Scattered Thoughts Of An American Poet is only a precursor, then we need to brace ourselves for what Buggs will be bringing us in 2015.”

He has just completed another series of interviews with various international press publications, and performed at A3C in Atlanta with Talib Kweli, the pair teaming up again with Hi Tek at the Reflection Eternal Reunion Show in Cincinnati, opening for Bone Thugs n Harmony and then performing with Mac Miller at the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles on 8th November.
