Based in New York and run by executive editor Sunez, online publication Premiere Hip Hop are well known to cover hip hop with a focus on conscientious lyricism, superior rhyme skillz and wordplay and on point production – the key elements whether drawing from a traditional or more contemporary overall sound.
With a long time appreciation of UK crew Triple Darkness, they have run the rule over their latest member Iron Braydz’ new EP “Verbal sWARdz” which released on his Unorthostract label on 14th April 2014 – available at http://braydz.bandcamp.com
The review reflects Sunez’ own passion for the artform, setting the background scene in an introduction which ends
“Now across borders and over waters there are the UK Triple Darkness crew of countercultural lyricists that ignite with insight. Their newest member, Iron Braydz strips it all down, keeps the collected fam enlisted as soldiers in verse trenches and gives an EP of concentrated explosions.”
The review works through the 10 tracks produced by Iron Braydz, Ringz of Saturn, Agor & Daniel Taylor and featuring Sean Price, Prince Po, Triple Darkness, Kyza, Skriblah, Phat Kat & DJ Shortee Blitz, and summarizes :
“As part of one of the great crews of importance, sharing lyrics of relevance and fiery inspiration worldwide, Triple Darkness’ Iron Braydz is a war chief cutting heads off devils with no limitation and the deeper understanding the more you listen….With Verbal Swardz, we at least know the real brothers out in the UK are thriving in their own league.”
Keep up to date with Iron Braydz on social media, whether on twitter @Braydz or on Facebook “HollaAtBraydz” and check out the full audio stream of the EP at Soundcloud

The new Matt Maddox album “Righteous Fury” is the highly anticipated follow up to his debut “Asylum Artistry” and releases Tuesday 25th February on Red Phone Records / Seven 13 Music.

The magazine’s contributor Taytula Burke opens her account “this accomplished MC has a knack of delivering his message at bullet like speed, with the next hard hitting track waiting eagerly in the chamber.” and then dissects the key points of the album, the motive behind it and the influence the authentic sound of hip hop has played in its construction – unsurprising given his origins in Long Beach California as part of the international “Guerilla War Tactix” crew.
The review summarizes “Righteous Fury is a valiant effort if the aim was to get rap in a chokehold and drag it back to its heyday. Well worth a listen.” and can be read HERE

They are the latest to give closer inspection to the new album “Righteous Fury” by hip hop MC Matt Maddox. His sophomore solo release following Asylum Artistry (2010), the ex Guerilla War Tactix member brings the classic west coast hip hop values to the table, unsurprisingly given his origins in Long Beach California. Now based in Kansas in the heart of America’s MidWest, the rapper calls on some choice production skills from Nemesis, Vanderslice, C Lance, Sicknature & Skammadix over which he lays down some serious lyricism and rhyme skills.
Joined on the mic on feature duties by such notables as Tragedy Khadafi, Reef The Lost Cauze, Adlib, Edd Bundy and King Magnetic, the album is also laced with quality turntablism with the scratches & cuts courtesy of the UK’s DJ TMB.
