Rapper and producer Az Izz, formerly of legendary New Jersey group The Outsidaz, returns with the self produced AA side single “Ghetto” b/w “Crazy” out today, the third from his new album “Dopeliss” releasing through New Dawn Records on July 3rd.

Together with Pacewon, Young Zee, Rah Digga and D.U., the Brick City crew were noted for their work with The Fugees, Wu Tang and a new emerging force from Detroit at the time, D12.  More recently pursuing a career in tv, film and sports music production, Az marks his arrival back with a first major solo offering in several years which blends the sounds of hip hop through the ages.

On “Ghetto”, the classic sound of the east coast prevails through guitar hooks and blaring brass on journeys to the gritty underbelly of the city, bars portraying street tales from the hood in the daily battle between survival and aspiration. Meanwhile on “Crazy”, aptly named for these times, heavy kicks and electronica fuel the adrenaline of a chaotic Brick City ride accompanied by fellow group member D.U.

Available to stream and download on APPLE / iTUNES, AMAZON & TIDAL Also streaming on Spotify and Soundcloud

Brick City rapper Tru Trilla released his much anticipated new album “God of Barz” through New Dawn Records on Friday May 29th 2020.

Rammed full of gritty rhymes, punchline bars and raucous lyricism, it is reminiscent of hip hop’s halcyon era, aided and abetted by guest featured artists Fly Kwa, Confucious, Middy Murdock and fellow 050 Boyz group member Prince Ak.

The album also benefits from the different production styles provided by Chicago’s DNA Beatz, the UK’s Chat One, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square and award winning Clinton Place (aka Jamal Nueve) originally of New Jersey and now based in Los Angeles. The sum parts contributing to the greater whole, pure energy being the common denominator.

A couple of in depth reviews have just been published by SoFlo Sound and Triple OT which articulate and reflect the overall concept and acknowledge the quality on offer.

Released today through New Dawn Records, the explosive new album “God of Barz” by Brick City’s lyrical marksman Tru Trilla.

Planting a flag for both the Garden State and the classic east coast sound, the veteran rapper and Lords of the Underground affiliate has concocted an immense piece of work, rammed full of passionate bars, skillful wordplay and intelligent rhymes.  Championing the cause of the underdog, the disengaged and the traditional values of hip hop itself while tackling political tensions of racial profiling, corruption and deprivation, knockout lines are delivered with the ferocity of a prize fighter.  Newark natives Middy Murdock, Fly Kwa, Confucious and fellow 050 Boyz member Prince Ak are the featured artists, intensifying the energy with their own gritty lyricism.

The production brings extra layers and dynamics courtesy of Chicago’s DNA Beatz, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square, the UK’s Chat One and award winning Clinton Place (aka Jamal Nueve), originally of New Jersey and now resident in Los Angeles.   Rugged, raw and hardwired into the psyche of the street, this one’s for the heads.

Just before the turn of the year, the UK’s online tv channel OnTrax visited New York and New Jersey to conduct a series of filmed interviews.

They sat down for 5 minutes with Brick City rapper Tru Trilla in the studios owned by local legends Lords of the Underground, and chopped it up about his earliest influences which naturally included the Lords, Naughty by Nature, Lakim Shabazz and Queen Latifah, and his journey starting out in hip hop.

He reveals his own original move from poetry to writing lyrics, and the passion felt in the creative process transferred to the listener, describing music as “art in motion and medicine to the soul” citing the track “I Remember” from his recently released EP “The Seymour Chronicles” as an example of the importance of writing from the heart.

Just published, watch the full interview on Youtube.

Released through New Dawn Records on March 17th, you can stream “The Seymour Chronicles EP” in full on Spotify

Tru will also be releasing his banging new album “God of Barz” through New Dawn Records on May 29th which includes production by Clinton Place (NJ/LA), DNA Beatz (Chicago), Sumerio Square (Barcelona) and the UK’s Chat One.
