050boyz-

New Jersey trio, Prince AK, Tru Trilla and Riq tha Kid, aka 050 Boyz, travelled a long and diverse road to form as a group in 2011.

With individual histories spanning back a couple of decades, the story of 050 Boyz who take their name from the NJ district code is one of careers intertwining at various stages throughout the years. Most notably as part of the Garden State Greats movement inspired by Treach (Naughty by Nature) & Fam (Rottin Razcals) in 2004, a concept which was re-generated by Lords of the Underground front man DoItAll some years later.

Added to the mix are tv & film acting careers, ongoing solo careers and now a banging new hip hop album produced entirely by Clinton Place (Yukmouth, Kurupt, DoItAll and Gillahouse’s Runt Dawg)

The full story is explained in the press release HERE but they also took time out recently to speak with local online tv channel Smash Block TV accompanied by Treach & DoItAll to explain more about the back story

They have already released the first video from the album for the joint “Get Back”

Look out for many new audio & video releases in the months ahead.

There has been widespread international media interest in the release, and the latest reviews reflect that fact with the coverage in the USA’s Rap Essence and the UK’s DataTransmission

Buggs-RapEssence

Rap Essence provide a track by track breakdown in their reviews, and afford the overall album a rating of 3.5 /5 summarizing “The production is really nice and varied throughout, with songs ranging from breezy samples (“Scattered Thoughts Intro”) to boom-bap bangers (“Religiously”) to electronica-inspried instrumentals (“Moments Slowed Down”)…As far as the rhymes go, Buggs Tha Rocka can definitely spit and changes up the subject matter on almost every song.”

Buggs-DataTransmission

UK online publication DataTransmission cover many different genres, and their contributor Ethan Everton delves into the lyrical content and mic skills provided by Buggs and featured artists such as Tanya Morgan, Donte from MOOD, Tanya Morgan, Phoenix Aphrodite and Aida Chakra, and outlines the production qualities provided by Illmind, Jake One, Hop Trax and Sal Dali.
