Binghamton rapper Tone Chop & producer Frost Gamble, now relocated to Winnipeg Canada, release their new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” tomorrow, Friday September 29th through Miami label 22 Entertainment.

It’s the follow up to their “Veteran” EP released in November last year at which time the pair spoke with The Word Is Bond Rap Radio Show host Chase March about their careers to date and future plans.

With the new release imminent, they all caught up again earlier this week to discuss the album and the developments over the near past year which have brought them to this point. The “dynamic duo” speak about having featured artists such as Kool G Rap on the album, the poignant story behind the track “Bing Stories”, Chop’s view on current rap addressed in “It’s Hip Hop” and “Beat Knocking” and introducing classic hip hop artists, music and history to their children.

While outlining their future plans together, Frost goes on to speak about his other projects including the release of the album “Black Beach” with Detroit’s ZotheJerk in May, his new collaboration EP with Tragedy Khadafi “Rare Fabric” in October and a new solo project releasing early next year which includes guest artists KXNG Crooked, Rah Digga, Skyzoo, Ras Kass, Guilty Simpson and Ruste Juxx.

Been quite a 12 months for hip hop producer Frost Gamble, originally from NY State but now resident in Canada.

Having signed with Miami’s 22 Entertainment, whose back catalogue includes Royce da 5’9″, Fashawn, Joe Budden, J-Kwon and KXNG Crooked, his first release on his new deal was the “Veteran” EP with long time sparring partner, east coast rapper Tone Chop, in November ’16.

This was followed quickly by the album “Black Beach” with another of his Nostalgia Clic stable of artists, Detroit rapper ZotheJerk. Release in May this year and featuring KXNG Crooked, Guilty Simpson, Boldy James and Sadat X, it received worldwide media coverage including a review in the renowned MOJO Magazine.

As we enter the latter half of 2017, he has two more releases on the immediate horizon. September 29th is the date for the new album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” again with Tone Chop and featuring Kool G Rap, Planet Asia, Tragedy Khadafi and rap battling phenomenon D.N.A.

This will be followed on October 20th with the “Rare Fabric” EP, a joint venture with Tragedy Khadafi. Meantime, he’s been recording new music with Horseshoe Gang, Royce da 5’9″ and is also near completion of a solo producer album “I Missed My Bus” which includes guest feature artists Ruste Juxx, Ras Kass, Skyzoo, Rah Digga, Guilty Simpson, KXNG Crooked and many more.

Midwest journalist Sinseer took time out recently to speak with Frost about his earliest days in production, his influences and style, the historical relationship with Tone Chop and Zo, his tie up with the label and of course all of his past and future projects.

Under previous incarnations, Miami based 22 Entertainment operated as a record label, distribution partner and production company releasing a wide range of urban and rock genres.

Notable landmarks includes their involvement in assisting the early development of what would become rap supergroup Slaughterhouse, and in 2011 they released Royce da 5’9″‘s “Success Is Certain”, the most successful independent rap album of that year.

A restructure and re-brand in the past year has seen the label sign a worldwide physical and digital distribution deal with Sony’s “The Orchard” who recently took over Sony Red’s operations. Releasing October 27th and available to pre-order, it’s the new album by north west London rapper Da Flyy Hooligan, long regarded as one of the most gifted and creative lyricists within the burgeoning UK rap scene. DFH also spent time based in NYC becoming part of J-Ronin’s “All Elements” movement, and went on to record with Sav Killz, Prince Po, M1 of Dead Prez, Hasan Salaam, D.V Alias Khryst and the late Sean P. The new album features US luminaries Westside Gunn and Hus Kingpin.

New single “Guilltone Chop” by eastcoast rapper & producer duo Tone Chop and Frost Gamble, the second to be taken from their album “Respect Is Earned Not Given” out on September 29th through 22 Entertainment.

Earlier this week, the label dropped the single “Barely Human” by Royce da 5’9″ and Tech N9ne for the 6th anniversary of their releasing Nickel’s “Success Is Certain”. High calibre lyricism stays on the agenda with this new one, Frost’s atmospheric backdrop underpinning sharp menacing bars by Chop and guest artists Planet Asia and Canadian upcomer White Rhino.

The album also features the States’ most viewed online rap battler D.N.A., Kool G Rap and Tragedy Khadafi with whom Frost has just wrapped up a new project. Last weekend, Frost was in NYC finishing his new project with Tragedy Khadafi. He was in town with Detroit rapper ZotheJerk with whom he released the “Black Beach” album in May. Released on May 26th, the hip hop album “Black Beach” by Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and eastcoast producer Frost Gamble has received plaudits by international publications for its intelligent social commentary addressing many aspects of life in today’s “Black America”.

This is not however just a barrage of protest anthems, but balances political issues with messages of hope, aspiration and the importance of providing the next generation with positive paternal role models, as witnessed in the duo’s most recent lyric video “Keep Me Safe”.

The album has also received praise for the production provided by Frost Gamble, who utilises a mix of soul, hip hop and electronica to reflect the mood swings, resulting in a perfect musical backdrop for the various themes.

First broadcast by Canadian station CHRW 94.9 FM on May 16th, The Word is Bond Rap Radio Show welcomed Detroit rapper ZotheJerk as their special guest.

Host Chase March spoke with him ahead of the release of his new album “Black Beach” produced entirely by Winnipeg based Frost Gamble on Friday May 26th.

NY State rapper and producer combo, Tone Chop & Frost Gamble, go all the way back to their days as rap battle rivals during the late 90’s before Frost re-located to Winnpeg, Canada and focused solely on beatmaking.

They released their first official collaborative project on November 18th last year, the “Veteran” EP being a warm up for their plans in 2017.
