Matt Maddox took some time out recently to speak with two online publications recently, American magazine Soundparlor and British hip hop specialist Rawroots.

As Soundparlor’s featured artist in their “10” series, he spoke on his background in Southern California, the early musical influences, life as an independent artist and future plans.

Now based in Kansas, Cali rapper and ex Guerilla War Tactix member Matt Maddox is hitting the ground running in 2014

With his first solo album in 4 years “Righteous Fury” due to release on February 25th, he will also be busy on the road. Scheduled to appear at SXSW, tour with Slaughterhouse and further plans to tour the UK and Europe all by the late Spring, he’s kicking the year off with the release of the new single “Street Art”.

Produced by Skammadix with quality turntablism courtesy of fellow Red Phone labelmate TMB, Maddox is joined on the mic by Queensborough veteran Tragedy Khadafi, as they take it in turns to verbally tear into the beat like knives through butter.

The album also includes features from King Magnetic, Reef The Lost Cauze, Swann and the UK’s Edd Bundy, with further production supplied by a host of names including Snowgoons’ Sicknature, C Lance (Jedi Mind Tricks), Vanderslice, Nemesis and many more. London’s Apex Zero prepares for his Reality Provoking Liberation album launch party with the release of this brand new joint straight out the lab, “Transcendental Emcee”.

The debut solo album was released to wide critical acclaim on 28th October, and this new track brings a lil’ different flava courtesy of Frank Freeman’s production, while Apex displays his trademark skilled wordplay and lyricism

The launch event takes place this Saturday, 7th December, upstairs at The Vibe Bar, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. West London emcee & producer Apex Zero released his debut solo album “Reality Provoking Liberation” on 28th October to critical acclaim.

Drawing from the sensibilities of hip hop from the Golden Era, he has received plaudits for addressing a wide range of political and social issues in his rhymes & lyricism, delivered with his trademark firebrand flow. West London rapper and producer Apex Zero sat down with journalist Ben Bradford recently for British online magazine Subba Cultcha.

They discussed the making of his debut solo album Reality Provoking Liberation and the underlying theme and concept of the subject matter, as well as working with his fellow partner in “First and Last” rhyme OMeza Omnsicient, Hasan Salaaam, Iron Braydz, Amy True and Invincible Armour. He explains why this has been the culmination of years of work beginning in 2010 and his writing techniques, whether as a lyricist or a producer, and his plans for the future.

It has been a highly impressive debut release, and the journalist opens the article with his own thoughts on the album, and these excerpts provide the flavour:

“listening to Apex Zero’s fierce and powerful lyrics on ‘Reality Provoking Liberation’ its clear he’s trying to unite people and to fight against the common enemy, the state, the Government , instead of against each other”

In the world of hip hop, few female rappers have stood the test of time more than New Jersey’s Rah Digga.

Best known for her involvement with Flipmode Squad, she’s operated as a solo artist for a number of years and last released an official studio album “Classic” in 2010.

Though it may appear to some that she’s been living “under the radar” for a time, London journalist Jazz Gill discovered that in fact she remains one of the busiest artists on the scene today.

With a string of internet releases over the past year, British magazine Guestlist decided to find out what’s been happening, and the reporter discovered that the legendary rapper has a full schedule ahead.

She speaks on her new New Jersey Dance Network project and the level of importance that has been given in the past few months, and the amount of personal time she has devoted to it. NJDN is a non profit organization aimed to help the young people in Newark have a safe place to be creative and channel their energy in a positive way. But there is also a further aim with it as she explains her plans for staging a new musical “Breakin in the Brix” and the launch of her new EP “Hood House”, all of which is linked.

The magazine also finds out her thoughts on the recent twerking craze and contemporary artists which she spoke on via the release of her new joint “New Hoes” earlier in the year, a track featured in the UK’s DJ Magazine recently. They also take it back and discuss her decision to leave Flipmode and her solo career from then until now, as well as her future release plans which include a new mixtape and album in 2014.
