The NY State rapper and Winnipeg producer release their new EP “Veteran” on November 18th through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment, a prelude to a new album coming in 2017.

The booming bass heavy beat provided by crate digger Frost slices up Jada’s “Time’s Up” for the hooks between his old rap battle rival’s punchline bars. Made available as a free download today direct from the audio stream on Soundcloud below

NY State rapper Tone Chop and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble have their first official collaboration releasing on November 18th. The 7 track “Veteran” Ep is available to pre-order on iTunes through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment

The pair have been connected since the 90’s when originally as rap battle rivals they came together as partners in rhyme and tagging in Binghamton before Frost’s re-location. Chop’s released numerous mixtapes over the past decade which included collabroations with Jinx da Juvy, Tom Gist and St Laz, while Frost, now fully focused on production has worked with Sadat-X, Rakim’s son Tahmell, J-Ro, ZotheJerk and the award winning Fresh I.E.

The EP has that distinct feel of the Golden Era while retaining a sense of the modern age, a fact picked up by Andrew Kay in his review which has afforded the release a 5 Star rating in Blacksheep Magazine.

A new feature on west coast rap group Horseshoe Gang has just been published in US online magazine Rhyme Junkie.

Written by their contributor Peter Johnstone, it provides some background information on the crew before focusing on their album “Anti-Trap Music” which was released through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment on April 29th. By highlighting several of the tracks and their contrasting styles, the review notes the consistency in the quality of lyricism present throughout.

Well, it’s not often you get a genuinely good laugh doing this job, but just occasionally something turns up…..

Earlier this week, MC M.I. from Constant Deviants jumped on the phone with DJ D-Money, host of the weekly Fresh Juice Radio Show based out of Washington State.

The pair began by discussing the group’s new album “Omerta” which releases on June 28th, and then moved on to the rapper’s new additional focus of movie making. As co:owner of Six2Six Records, M.I. has become more involved in acting, film writing and film production, and has set up a new subsidiary Six2Six Films.

A new movie “Six2Six” will be screened at Ralph McDaniels’ Hip Hop Film Festival in NYC during August, and co:starring with M.I. is Treach (Naughty by Nature), Syleena Johnson and Chief Rocker Busy Bee. Some of the plot line is explained before the Baltimore MC reveals he is near completion of another new film, this time a comedy, called “Can’t Live Without My Radio”.

Then comes a regular section of the show where rappers play the radio version of the board game “What?”. Among the questions asked are “What do dogs think when owners dress them up in clothes?” and “What would you legalize?”

We’ll just leave that there and you can have a listen to what he says……enjoy…..

West coast crew Horseshoe Gang released their new album “Anti-Trap Music” last Friday, April 29th, through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment.

Within the first hour of release, Amazon reported that they had sold out all CD stock…now replenished…and the album is a Top 50 seller on iTunes in 15 different countries. It’s a testament to the extent of the group’s international fanbase.

Among recent video and written reviews is this new one published today by French online Sagi Hip Hop

A 4 star review, a rough translation of their summary reads “No fillers, mammoth firecrackers, Horseshoe Gang keep the quality high and to the point over 11 tracks.” with extended sections of the article given over to the theme of the album title, specifically calling into question the lyrical content and influence that particular genre has on a younger generation. The album itself diversifies into a range of subject matter, real life issues, which in itself justifies the title.

The four brothers Julius, Kenny, Dice and Demetrius aren’t sitting on their hands. They just had their album launch party in LA earlier in the week, are still conducting interviews with international media and making arrangements to shoot some new videos.

They are also in the early stages of organizing some tour dates while putting some studio time aside to record new material, quite possibly a new album for later in the year.
