Latest review of Copywrite’s new album “God Save The King (Proper English Version)” which releases on Man Bites Dog Records in July 2012 – this time in London’s Beatnik Online

This isnt a release with international features for the sake of it – artists such as Iron Braydz & Crooked I, Genesis Elijah & Royce da 5 9, Akala & Sonny Seeza, Mystro, S.A.S. & Sean Price, Bigz Flygerian & Inspectah Deck and many more standing shoulder to shoulder throughout makes this a cut above the norm.

Its unprecedented to have this level of international collaboration on an independent hip hop release where the standard remains so consistently high, a fact that’s not missed in the article

Just before their last March 2012 UK date in Glasgow, Souls of Mischief were smuggled down a secret side street where they gave this video shout out to the new Elementz club night launching on 26th April at The Rhythm Factory, 16 – 18 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1EW

The Stateside version drops on 28th February on Man Bites Dog Records, while the UK version, featuring many hip hop heavyweights from the British scene is released on 30th April.

Oakland’s hip hop legends Souls of Mischief return to the UK and Europe for the first time in 2 years since their “Montezuma’s Revenge” tour.

It’s almost 20 years since the release of the classic ’93 Til Infinity’, but the group members, as part of the Hieroglyphics Crew, have remained one of the most prolific artists on the scene with numerous solo and group releases on Hiero Imperium Records. They still tour regularly all over the United States and Canada, and are due to perform at SXSW on their return from Europe

2012 starts with three solo albums being released in quick succession.

Tajai has already released his new collaboration with Sleeprockers “Machine Language”

Opio is set to release his new album “Vultures Wisdom Volume 2” on 28 February

Phesto’s new album “Background Check” drops on 13 March. Taken from Background Check is the bangin single “Every Detail” with a drivin beat courtesy of the ever dependable Lalo Schifrin. Check out the video below

The European tour takes in Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Germany and Belgium, while UK fans can expect to hear a mix of new material and the old classics on the following dates

In September 2011, UK hiphop artists Mystro, Genesis Elijah and Iron Braydz were in west London filming scenes for a new video to be released for a posse cut which will also feature artists from Oakland’s legendary Hiero Imperium.

The full video will be completed in the next couple of months.

While together, UK’s online Niji Magazine caught up with them to see what was happening behind the scenes, find out what they had coming up in their own right, and also interviewed the video cameraman Despa from the Birmingham based Stay Fresh label and the video director from Dirty Media London

THE LOCK IN BLOG

We have just launched a new blog on Tumblr, “The Lock In”

As a company, Urbanelite Promotions have several online platforms on Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, various blogs etc to help promote our international client base

We decided to launch a less formal platform on tumblr to highlight anything that entertained or interested us. This could be news, videos, tracks, sport, music industry “advice”, anything of any nature that we just felt like posting.

This will also be a platform for artists & labels, most likely involved in hiphop, rap, r&b, soul or any other form of “urban” music who we may not be directly involved with, but we like, to have their videos or tracks uploaded. Any artists interested in having their material or details of events added should check the site first, all the contact details are there.

As a taster, we have uploaded some examples, including a rare interview with Souls of Mischief & Sarah Love & “tour stories” from their time in the UK supporting the release of the album Montezuma’s Revenge, when we took D12 to meet Tim Westwood & news of their tour last year & dates in the Uk this year, and some other videos of Stateside & UK artists such as Copywrite, Vast Aire, Supar Novar, Depprooted & we’ll be adding more soon. We also uploaded a couple examples of our 8Tracks mixes featuring international hiphop artists we’ve been in touch with over the years.
