With just under a month until the release of their new album “Anti-Trap Music” on April 29th, west coast crew Horseshoe Gang jumped on the phone with the UK’s Wordplay Magazine.

The magazine covers all things rooted in hip hop culture – music, fashion, graffiti – and produce a regular printed publication in addition to having their online platform.

Speaking with Ethan Everton, the group discuss the upcoming album release and the subject matter they touch upon and provide further insight as to why only their elder brother KXNG Crooked appears as a guest artist.

The feature which also doubles as a focus piece on the release also reports on Horseshoe Gang’s rap battle with Funk Volume last year, their previous EP release “Knockin on Rap’s Door” and the interview concludes with their thoughts on the level of unity between artists in the California scene.

Latest interview feature on west coast rappers Horseshoe Gang, this time in US online publication The ReUp Spot.

Here they explain the tie up with the label Seven 13 Music & Entertainment through their previous work with Royce da 5′ 9″, Kid Vishis, KXNG Crooked and early involvement with the phenomenan that became Slaughterhouse.

They discuss their new album “Anti-Trap Music”, the concepts behind it and the recording process involved, and then give further insight into their well documented rap battle last year with Funk Volume and Hopsin’s subsequent break away.

The group recorded “Half a Meal” in response to Hopsin’s $500,000 open battle challenge announced on Sway in the Morning, and sat down with DJ Vlad to talk more about it in late summer last year.

Last week, they released the third single from the album. “Shoe-icide Squad” is their statement on the #BlackLivesMatter issue and was produced by Tabu (Kendrick Lamar, Aftermath)

West coast hip hop crew Horseshoe Gang sat down with the UK’s The Music Spot Magazine recently to chop it up about a variety of issues

They spoke about their early days, how they formed and the role their elder brothers Mad Man and KXNG Crooked played in their development before discussing the dynamics of operating as a group in preference to releasing solo projects.

The group then went on to talk about their new album Anti-Trap Music and the concept behind it, their plans to release a new comic book series, gave a snapshot tourist guide to Long Beach, explained the internal Jason v Freddy “dispute” and then sent a message to US presidential candidate (is that STILL a feasible description, really???!) Donald Trump.

East coast online publication The 9 Elements have been running their “Whole 9” series of interviews over the past couple of years, and most recently sat down with Julius, Kenny, Demetrius and Dice from Long Beach crew Horseshoe Gang.

With their fourth official album “Anti-Trap Music” due to release on April 29th, the group discussed a variety of subjects. They spoke about their well documented rap battle with Funk Volume last year and leading on from this, gave their thoughts on the current beef between Joey Bada$$ and Troy Ave.

They go deeper into the motivation behind the new album title while the discussion then moved to address their views about rappers who have talked about selling or apparently endorsing drugs in their rhymes. In a couple days time, on Wednesday 12th August, 050 Boyz make the short trip from Brick City to NYC to appear live in the studio with DJ Eclipse as guests for his Halftime Show on WNYU.

The debut album by Newark hiphop group 050 Boyz releases this coming Tuesday, 4th August 2015.

Riq da Kid, Prince AK and Tru Trilla have put together a banger from start to finish, assisted greatly by the production by their long time associate Clinton Place.

“Everything 050”, just as with the group named after the area code for New Jersey, is one for the heads. Neck breakin beats, raucous delivery & energy, on point lyricism, it’s like the good ‘ol days while being aware it’s 2015. Speaking of the UK, the trio chopped it up with London’s I Am Hip Hop Magazine recently to discuss how the group formed and their links with Treach and the Garden State Greats movement, the artists who inspired them and their traditional and ongoing focus on representing New Jersey. Having come up through the Golden Era, they also highlight the new wave of artists they rate, they discuss the process on choosing producers, and Clinton Place himself speaks about his involvement with the album.

West coast meets east coast in this new feature as Baltimore / New Jersey duo Constant Deviants speak with California based online publication Streets Connect

In the aftermath of the release of their critically acclaimed fourth album “Avant Garde”, the pair spoke about the recording process and the influence an earlier tour of Europe had in its concept, they discussed their “3Stylez” video series launched in the Spring and also their new movie “Six 2 Six”, and gave their thoughts on the importance of battle rap and freestyling, the current state of mainstream and underground hip hop and their take on what constitutes an authentic sound.

The interview then finishes by taking the group back to the days of their first release Competition Catch Speed Knots and DJ Cutt chops it up about his history behind the boards.

The group are busy recording new material and are set to launch a new remix of their last single End All Be All next week, remixed by Brooklyn’s Da Beatminerz. The connection came when Constant Deviants were guests on Beatminerz Radio in May at the time of the album’s release.

Many of their singles and loosies released in the Spring are still getting a lot of airplay, including this one “Thinkin” which features another from the Six2Six Records stable, Rome.
