Released today, “Play No Games” is the second single to be taken from the album “Beautiful Foundations” by New York State rapper and producer duo Tone Chop and Frost Gamble, out through New Dawn Records on May 15th.

Layers of classic boom bap hip hop beats underpin hard bars as the veteran rap battle champion goes on the hunt with a verbal salvo aimed at upcoming title contenders. Joining them on the mission is legendary turntablist DJ Eclipse, renowned for his work with Non Phixion, Ill Bill and ongoing Fat Beats ambassador. Still flying the flag high and representing the dopest new underground bangers with his Rap Is Outta Control Show on Shade 45, the cutting skills on this joint are typically off the scale, stoking the fires further in a fusion of gritty authentic heat.

Binghamton rapper and producer duo Tone Chop & Frost Gamble, the latter now based in Canada, drop their new album “Beautiful Foundations” through New Dawn Records on May 15th this year.

The title track was released last month as a single, available from all digital platforms and stores, while the official video was published on Youtube

They have just recorded a special “Beautiful Foundations Freestyle” where Chop in customary fashion gets busy on the mic with a neat twist by dropping the names of all the album tracks in his bars.

He linked up recently with local videographer Lil Kurby, who also filmed the official single video, to take to the snowbound streets of Binghamton for some new visuals which you can now watch on Youtube.

The album itself was recorded by the pair to mark their long standing friendship and working relationship together dating back three decades, and features many of those they’ve met and built with on the journey.

A landmark release, they have also filmed an accompanying documentary which details their earliest days together, maps out the trials and tribulations they encountered on the way and of course speaks on the new project. It’s a must watch for all interested in hip hop’s history and culture, and will resonate with independent artists everywhere. Look out for this dropping shortly after the album.

Plans are also underway for a special launch event to take place in their hometown, with details due to be announced in the coming months.

The next single will be “Play No Games” on February 10th with features cuts by DJ Eclipse [Shade 45 / Sirius XM – Rap Is Outta Control Show]. You can hear a snippet of it as part of the Official Album Video Trailer which was released late last year.

Back at it again, Brick City’s Tru Trilla returns today with the AA side single “Respectfully”, lifted from last year’s album ‘XVI : Return of the Gods’ released through New Dawn Records.

Laced throughout with the kind of bullish bars and beats which earned it a front page spotlight on Bandcamp, the New Jersey veteran assembled a heavyweight line up of guest featured artists and producers to deliver a classic soundtrack fuelled by the highest calibre lyrical firepower.

Produced by Frost Gamble, the latest cut is a further testament to the levels.  Tru drops knowledge with Brooklyn’s Justo the MC and Floridian NapsNdreds in another showcase of dexterous rhymes and slick flows by verbal marksmen at the height of their game.  The narrative is reinforced by the “Qataban Remix” courtesy of label affiliate Shahin, flipping the script with an intense fusion of strings, breaks and sub Saharan flavas that hits differently.

Independent hip hop label New Dawn Records have just announced a new partnership arrangement with Australian based distributors Xelon Digital Entertainment with whom they will work together on various forthcoming projects.

Since re-launching in 2019, NDR have released various singles, EP’s and albums by artists from the States, UK and Canada, initially through INgrooves Distribution who subsequently became part of Universal Music’s operation.

In a statement which can be read in full HERE the label acknowledges the support provided by INgrooves while citing the opportunity as “an exciting new chapter in our journey” adding they are “very much looking forward to working with them in the coming years”.

Like its predecessors ‘Sun Rays’ ft Reks & Lakim Shabazz, and ‘No Joking Around’ ft NB.S. & Recognize Ali, the new joint packs a ferocious punch with another salvo of raw energy for the senses.

Veteran NY State producer Frost Gamble fans the flames coast to coast like butta’ on toast. Unleashed on the beat, Tru trades robust verbal blows with Brooklyn’s Ruste Juxx before Shoe Gang member Julius Luciano gets in on the action. It’s standard family business for the brother of KXNG Crooked, as the west coast warrior duly plants the Long Beach flag through a barrage of bars delivered at breakneck speed.

Hip Hop label New Dawn Records have today announced that they will be releasing the new album “XVI : Return of the Gods” by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla on May 31st 2024.

We have worked with Tru on a number of occasions, initially in 2015 when as part of the group 050 Boyz they released the album ‘Everything 050’. Well received on an international scale, this resulted in the group’s appearances on Sirius XM as guests of both DJ Eclipse and DJ Premier

Fast forward to 2020, and with the re-launch of our parent company New Dawn Records the year before, we worked with Tru on a solo basis for the first time beginning with his ‘Seymour Chronicles EP’ followed a few months later with his album, the classic banger ‘God of Barz’.

In the early half of 2021, discussions took place between the label, Tru and our production division outlining the concept of its natural successor. The planning process completed, work began later that year in the early stages of its construction.

Most of those who appeared in “God of Barz” would be involved representing continuity, but this time the net would be cast a little wider with additional production contributions and guest featured artists from further afield.

A methodical and thoughtful approach which saw the recording process completed in the Spring of 2023 which has allowed Tru to craft a dynamic masterpiece, the manifestation of progression while retaining the heart and soul of the original. The tracklist speaks for itself.

A series of singles will precede the album, beginning with “Sun Rays” on January 30th. Accompanying videos for all tracks will also appear on the label’s Youtube channel.

Released today, new single “Fine Line” by Brooklyn rapper Justo the MC and Edinburgh producer Brelstaff, taken from the album ‘Urban Testimony’ which released on November 3rd through New Dawn Records and has just been featured on Bandcamp’s front page New & Notable spotlight section.

The album’s entire theme depicts events leading up to, during and following Justo’s curtailed and troubled time studying at Clark Atlanta University some years ago, and the future chosen with lessons learned.  “Fine Line” documents a conflicted mind, weighed down by the expectations derived from a background of faith while straying from the path of opportunity in a rueful narrative.

Brelstaff’s atmospheric soundtrack cuts deep into the concept, and was first broadcast on BBC Radio 1’s Focus Beats programme during the summer.
