The young artist who splits his time working out of both Atlanta and Alabama signed a deal with Seven 13 Entertainment and is due to release his debut EP “Ocean$ – Extended Play” on 19th May.

He recently spoke to London journalist Taytula Burke for the UK’s online publication God is in the TV Magazine where he discussed the influence of his mother’s love of hip hop & in particular Tupac, his dedication & work ethic for music, and the inspiration J Cole’s self produced album has been in his own approach. With early aspirations to be a criminal defence lawyer, he then explains the reasons behind the change of course into music and his writing and recording methods

VerbalSwardz-Bearded

British online publication Bearded Magazine covers many genres of music and has consistently championed new artists they feel have genuine quality and talent.

On the day of the release of his new “Verbal sWARdz” EP, they have published an introductory feature on north London Emcee and producer Iron Braydz which acknowledges the work he has put in to date, whether when based in NYC working with DJ J-Ronin’s All Elements crew, Sean Price, Guilty Simpson and Sav Kills, or via his previous landmark releases Devil May Cry and Holla @Braydz.

One of the UK’s most highly rated lyricists for a number of years, both at home & abroad and together with the rest of his Triple Darkness crew, the article reflects “True hip-hop in the UK is reserved for underground scenes and hidden-away locales. There’s not many who can take the style to the mainstream and retain integrity – Tinie who? – but if Braydz continues the way he does, there’s gonna be a helluva lot of people clamouring to get involved.

“Verbal sWARdz” is only the first of a series of releases planned from Iron Braydz in the year ahead – be on the lookout for this guy and check the full feature at Bearded Magazine

The EP includes features by Prince Po, Sean Price, Triple Darkness, DJ Shortee Blitz, Phat Kat, Kyza and Skriblah and is available now from Iron Braydz’ BANDCAMP

VerbalSwardz-Fabricate

The latest review of the new Iron Braydz EP “Verbal sWARdz” has been published by British online Fabricate

The north London Emcee & producer has put together a very strong 10 track release, which also features Prince Po, Triple Darkness, Sean Price, Kyza and Skriblah, and the new review written by Ethan Everton reflects the quality on display

Snapshot passages from the review :

Back to dominantly instil fear into weak MC’s and shed a wealth of knowledgeable insights, Iron Braydz marks his return on April 14th with his Verbal sWARdz EP…..throughout the EP, Braydz induces terror over dark, bassy instrumentals, spitting without compassion or empathy through a multitude of immodest verses….compiled full of lyrical devastation, with too many unnerving & aggro verses to count. Full of quick-fire rhymes, intricate verbal frenzies and perspectives worth pondering, we shall be watching Iron Braydz future movements ready for when he decides to unleash the beast that patiently resides within him

Read all about it HERE

Iron Braydz is currently putting together a new video release to hopefully coincide with the EP’s release on 14th April, but meantime check the Triple Darkness & FuFu Gang member’s most recent release “Dredd”

SoulonFire-Guestlist

Guestlist are an online and physical publication based in London who cover many different genres including house, techno, r&b, hip hop, drum & bass, dubstep, reggae, indie and more.

They cover music releases with reviews and interviews, but are also heavily involved with events, clubs, shows & festivals in the UK and in Europe, reporting on the hotspots to visit for people who want to experience the nightlife of various cities throughout the continent….or as they put it “The Ultimate Guide To Going Out and Having Fun!”

Most recent interviews in their “R&B and Hip Hop” section include Tinchy Stryder, Jazzy Jeff, Eve, Wu Tang Clan, Ruff Diamondz and Example, and the latest is with ethemadassassin who released his third solo album “Soul on Fire” on 17th September

The Los Angeles based rapper, most associated with North Carolina where he started performing and recording during the Golden Era of the 90’s speaks with journalist Janine Francois about his new album, the musical progression from his previous albums, lyricism, beat selection, and his favourite track off the album and the reason for his choice

Read the full interview HERE

The album Soul on Fire can be bought online at iTunes HERE

There are some classic cuts on that album, whether “80’s & 90’s” produced by Edinburgh’s Sci Fi Stu & “Can’t Get Enough” with that more soulful sound of the 90’s, or the rockier hardcore sound in joints like “Elements”, “Fight Music”, “Tiger Blade”, “What It’s Supposed To Be” produced by Kyo Itachi….and the bonus track released recently H.T.G. ft Sole-R

Look out for more releases from E soon, and his new album with sparring partner Veteran Eye as part of the group Veteran Assassins is also in the pipeline for 2014.

SoulonFire-DataTransmission

British online magazine DataTransmission is well known for its coverage of all type of dance music, from techno, house, dubstep and all other genres in between, reporting from all around the UK and hotspots such as Ibiza, Aiya Napa and various other European resorts & cities.

They also like their rap and hip hop music, and have just reviewed the new album Soul on Fire by rapper ethemadassassin, currently based in Los Angeles but most associated with his native North Carolina where he started out performing in the 90’s.

One half of Veteran Assassins, this is E’s third solo album which released on 17th September, and Janine Francois cast an eye over his most recent offering

ethemadassasin, lives up to regal standards as set by his previous releases such as, ‘Proverbs’ and ‘ Tomorrow Never Comes’ both dealing with the chaotic lifestyle lived by this Golden Era emcee” is how the review opens which notes his lyrcism, wit, humour, sarcasm and “hard cold truths” in what is an audio biopic of his life from his early days to the “latest scene in the movie of his life today”.

The album has received much credit for its open & honest approach, owning up to past mistakes, acknowledging struggles and successes, and also having a healthy dose of retrospective flava for those who remember or are fans of the sights, sounds and fashions of the 90’s.

The review summarizes “ethemadassasin does himself justice and for hardcore fans you will not be disappointed, as he lyrically delivers the goods. For those new to this ageless rapper, it is recommended you reference previous works to gain some context on ‘Soul on Fire.’ The album does just that, bares his soul for us to hear.

SoulonFire-WordplayMag

British Publication Wordplay Magazine exists in both online and printed formats, and cover hip hop news, reviews & features, as well as articles on Graffiti, Fashions, Breakin’, Reggae and generally represent hip hop culture across the board.

Their contributor Delphina Scott spoke with ethemadassassin recently, the rapper based out of Los Angeles but most associated with North Carolina having begun performing and recording there since the 90’s. Now one half of the Veteran Assassins duo, he has just released his 3rd solo album “Soul on Fire” on his own R Steel imprint.

In the interview he speaks on the making of Soul on Fire, his own history in hip hop and his views on how his new album fits within the current climate of a switch back of focus to artists with a more traditional sense of lyricism and production.

Read the whole interview HERE

The album does have elements which are a throwback to the Golden Era, but that fits with the tracks where he is reflecting on his life and the sights & sounds of the time in joints such as 80’s & 90’s & Can’t Get Enough. This is mixed with more contemporary production on tracks such as Elements, Tiger Blade and Fight Music, as the album acts as a biographical document, a journey from then til now
