Already on international rotation, “Smoke Filled  Rooms” mixes electronica, turntablism and South Asian flavas to journey into the dark underbelly of the inner city with rhymes depicting a vision of drug squalor hell, while the booming kicks and soaring strings of “Skitzophonetic” provides the dramatic backdrop for a verbal tirade against generic conformity.  Bonus cut “That All U Got?” invokes the spirit of Ali & Foreman leaving industry machinations slumped in the corner, towel thrown.  The art of storytelling has returned on a release spanning all eras.

Released today by New Dawn Records, Underground Cartel’s “Sapientia EP” is the definition of international hip hop.

Produced by Kruze as a showcase for independent male and female artists from the USA, UK, Europe and Africa, the concept is represented in its truest form as all perform in their native tongues. 

Stateside there’s coast to coast representation courtesy of Swiss Precise (KBH crew Long Beach), Sacramento’s Crazy Ballhead, Midwest rapper Brandon J Atlas, Boston’s Yukonn MC, Black Market from Virginia, Tone Rome of Baltimore’s Raw Dialect crew and Brooklyn’s female MC Lockness. 

London’s Creamo and UK Rapstation host Mr CRF are joined by Zimbabwean Dumi Right, with a heavy European contingent in the form of Madrid’s El Meswy, Beni Blanco from French crew “Originaire du Sud”, German rapper Grizu, Croatia’s Magellano and Dutchman Bleek Wonder.  The Italian scene has double representation in the shape of female lyricist Marya and the late, great Primo Brown from legendary crew Cor Veleno.   

All stand shoulder to shoulder trading bars which move seamlessly through each track and territory.  The result is a fresh, eclectic and extremely rare mix of rhymes, beats and turntablism, essential listening for the global hip hop connoisseur.

Out today on the newly relaunched New Dawn Records, “Y’All in Meltdown – Lazarus EP Vol 1” by hip hop crew Belles in Monica is a re-issue of their classic singles “Y’All Under Surveillance” and “Meltdown” available together for the first time on digital formats.

The original vinyl releases were regulars on multiple stations including BBC Radio 1 and featured in a variety of printed publications including Billboard, Hip Hop Connection and Blues & Soul, while extensive club support led to high entries in DJ Magazine’s specialist charts.

The new EP includes the celebrated and some previously unreleased versions of the remixes by G-Sharp, Phi Life Cypher producer DJ Nappa, turntablist supreme DJ Mr Thing and legendary DMC finalist Krash Slaughta, and also features brand new exclusive re-worked productions of the originals. Hip hop label & UEP’s parent company New Dawn Records are marking their re-launch after 15 years with a series of specially commissioned single & EP releases over the coming months.  Having signed a distribution partnership with US company INgrooves, they are currently adding new artists to the roster.

North west London’s Da Flyy Hooligan has long been regarded as one of the most talented and creative rappers to emerge from the UK hip hop scene over the past few years.

He is also one of the most consistent and productive artists around at the moment to the point where if he’s not in the studio recording, he’s outside waiting to get in !

2017 was another busy year for him, beginning with the release of his EP “F.Y.L.P.M” on various formats leading up to the summer followed in October with his new album “S.C.U.M.” featuring Westside Gunn and Hus Kingpin.

He also became a regular in the renowned British monthly publication DJ Magazine’s hip hop singles reviews page written by Neil Kulkarni, which is produced in both physical print and online formats.

As 2017 drew to a close, hip hop producer Frost Gamble, originally from NY State but currently based in Winnipeg Canada, chopped it up with New York online publication ‘Artistically Trustworthy’.

It was the culmination of what had been an extremely busy year for the beatsmith which included the album releases “Black Beach” with Detroit rapper ZotheJerk, “Respect Is Earned Not Given” with eastcoast rapper Tone Chop and a further EP “Rare Fabric”, his collabortion with Tragedy Khadafi.

2018 looks set to be just as productive if not even more so with multiple projects in the pipeline including work with Horseshoe Gang, a new solo album “I Missed My Bus” featuring a host of luminaries such as Conway the Machine, Rah Digga, Skyzoo, Ruste Juxx, KXNG Crooked, Planet Asia, Ras Kass and many more, the ongoing development of his “Nostalgia Clic” group project with Zo, Chop & Canadian upcomer White Rhino and further follow up albums to last year’s releases.

He discussed all of this, his original introduction to hip hop via breakdancing and his transition to working behind the boards in the new interview feature just published which can be read in full HERE
