North west London rapper Da Flyy Hooligan releases the second single from his new album “S.C.U.M.” tomorrow, September 6th.

“Distress Signals” features Long Island’s Hus Kingpin, and you will get the chance to hear it first on the US online Nah Right who will be premiering the track from midday EST / 5pm GMT HERE

It follows the first single “Savile Row” which featured current Stateside luminary Westside Gunn

DFH also released a new video “Romero Bryan” recently. Premiered by Complex Magazine, it’s a tribute to the London fashion designer taken from his EP “Fucc Ya Life Praise Mine” released earlier this year

In a very rare step for a British rapper, DFH has signed with a US label for the release of the new album via Miami’s 22 Entertainment whose back catalgue includes Royce da 5’9″, Fashawn, Joe Budden, J-Kwon and KXNG Crooked. Releasing on October 27th, it’s available to pre-order on digital and CD formats from the label’s BANDCAMP

The latest review of the new album “Black Beach” by Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and producer Frost Gamble has been published in the UK’s Blacksheep Magazine.

Written by regular contributor Andrew Kay, the article first of all acknowledges the creative nature of the album with both artists given equal billing, in a similar vein to Premo and Royce da 5’9″s PRhyme project.

A track by track summary follows reflecting the contrasts in mood swings reflected in the style of production and subject matter which has at its core a stream of social commentary, a personal perspective on the experience of today’s “Black America“.

British online HHK Magazine (aka Hip-Hop Kings) run a regular series “25 Facts” where artists discuss their upcoming albums providing a behind the scenes look at the writing and recording processes, and adding further little known or unusual facts about the release and themselves.

Latest to be published relates to “Black Beach”, the new album by Detroit rapper ZotheJerk and producer Frost Gamble who while now based in Winnipeg Canada, is originally from upstate New York.

The album, out on May 26th through 22 Entertainment, was recorded in Kansas, Ohio and also in Detroit at Mr Porter’s original home studio and features KXNG Crooked, Boldy James, Guilty Simpson, Sadat-X, Young Bleed, Tone Chop and many more. Having appeared in the film “8 Mile”, Zo also received a “Humanitarian of the Year” award for work in the local community and was originally signed to the late Proof of D12’s Ironfist label.

Shortly before the release of their new EP “Veteran”, NY State rapper Tone Chop and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble jumped on Skype to speak with London journalist Taytula Burke for long running online publication British Hip Hop.

The feature published today encompasses their discussion relating to the spirit and sound of the new EP in line with how they first met at rap battles during the 90’s, while also establishing their firm committment to hip hop’s evolution for a modern era.

The opener “Dedication” shouts out many of the G.O.A.T.’s including Rakim, Queen Latifah and Pac, an opening salvo declaring their origins and influences followed by biographical accounts in “Back in the Days” and “Better with Time”. However “Step Up” switches focus to the future, in line with the EP’s role as a warm up for a new album next year.

A member of the highly rated Triple Darkness crew, his position as one of the country’s most gifted lyricists is well established and he brings all of his verbal dexterity to the table in this new joint “Polaroid”. Produced by Californian duo Walterwarm and Cowode, it is the first single to be taken from the new album and features British upcomer Karl Sage.

West coast rappers Horseshoe Gang jumped on Skype recently with UK journalist Thomas Schofield shortly after the release of their new album “Anti-Trap Music”.

Interviewing the group for London’s On The Come Up TV, they spoke about the earliest days and the transformation from The Untouchable Gang to their present moniker and their establishment within the COB movement.

They spoke about issues they feel they sometimes face in networking with other artists, and how they view the modern day version of rap battles, especially in light of their own well documented response to Funk Volume’s $500,000 challenge last year.

The interview concludes with the theme of the album title and how the group want to help inform the younger generations of traditional hip hop values in a modern context, and use the best of the old and the new to help push the culture forward
