NY State rapper Tone Chop & Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble released their new EP ” Veteran” on November 18th through Seven 13 Music & Entertainment. Available to buy from iTunes

It features the singles “Leave It Alone”, a tribute to Sean Price featuring Ruste Juxx, and “Step Up” for which negotiations are underway with a film franchise for inclusion in one of their upcoming productions.

The duo have have just released this new bonus cut “Crowd Pleaser” as a free download, with rap battle veteran Chop delivering his trademark punchline bars and metaphors while Frost dices up Inspectah Deck’s “R.E.C. Room” for the hook.

Shortly after the release of their new EP “Veteran”, Ny’s Tone Chop & Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble jumped on Skype with Ayla Dhyani, editor of online publication “Tone MVMT”.

In the interview feature published today, they discuss how the pair first met at rap battles in upstate New York during the 90’s and how they managed to remain in sync through the years despite Frost’s relocation to Canada.

They give their thoughts on the evolution of hip hop through the past couple of decades and outline how their own solo careers progressed through that time before coming full circle to discuss the new EP and their future plans for an album in 2017.

Shortly before the release of their new EP “Veteran”, NY State rapper Tone Chop and Winnipeg based producer Frost Gamble jumped on Skype to speak with London journalist Taytula Burke for long running online publication British Hip Hop.

The feature published today encompasses their discussion relating to the spirit and sound of the new EP in line with how they first met at rap battles during the 90’s, while also establishing their firm committment to hip hop’s evolution for a modern era.

The opener “Dedication” shouts out many of the G.O.A.T.’s including Rakim, Queen Latifah and Pac, an opening salvo declaring their origins and influences followed by biographical accounts in “Back in the Days” and “Better with Time”. However “Step Up” switches focus to the future, in line with the EP’s role as a warm up for a new album next year.

One of the leading names in the UK hip hop scene for the past several years, north London’s Melanin 9 is set to release a new solo album “Old Pictures” in the Spring of 2017.

A member of the highly rated Triple Darkness crew, his position as one of the country’s most gifted lyricists is well established and he brings all of his verbal dexterity to the table in this new joint “Polaroid”. Produced by Californian duo Walterwarm and Cowode, it is the first single to be taken from the new album and features British upcomer Karl Sage.

A few weeks back, Baltimore rapper M.I. from Constant Deviants sat down with Sherron Shabazz from The Real Hip Hop in the lead up to the release of the new album “Omerta”.

The group’s fifth full length studio release has a theme running throughout, and the interview begins by discussing the meaning of the title and why it was used before moving on to the concepts behind specific tracks such as “So Underrated” and “DeLorean”.

M.I. has also made a significant move into the world of film making in recent times as an actor, writer and producer. With a new movie “Six2Six” co:starring Treach, Syleena Johnson and Chief Rocker Busy Bee set to be screened at Ralph McDaniels’ Hip Hop Film Festival in NYC next month, the pair talk about how he first became involved in this new venture and the comparisons between the two art forms.

Constant Deviants will be back on the airwaves tonight, live in the studio of two more radio stations as they continue to promote their new album “Omerta” which released earlier this week on Six2Six Records.

Constant Deviants released their new album yesterday, June 28th, through Six2Six Records.

Available to buy from their BANDCAMP and it is also being distrbuted worldwide on vinyl format. It’s one of those records you really want to hear through the big speakers, absolutely bangin!

A new review was published today in the US online 7th Boro. Their writer Scyren Joseph presents some background information in the introduction then a full track by track appraisal. In summary, her conclusion is “M.I. has that grimy persona and voice that I love and DJ Cutt is a beast on production. I was really digging this album. Definitely Scy approved. Go cop that shit right now! You won’t be disappointed.”

In the interview, M.I. explains the thinking behind the new album title “Omerta” and the reasons for the theme running throughout. They speak on dumbing down lyrically, and how he experienced this during his time signed to Arista, but how his creative artistic instinct compelled him to return to the independent sector and set up Six2Six Records.

Now with a new significant move into the world of film making as an actor, writer and producer, he explains more about establishing Six2Six Films and his new film “Six2Six The Movie”. On learning he is currently filming a new comedy movie “Can’t Live Without My Radio”, Chase takes the discussion onto the wider subject of hip hop films such as “Straight Outta Compton” and the increase in new independent films emerging.

Little while back, Chicago journalist Sherron Shabazz, owner of the online The Real Hip Hop jumped on Skype with Long Beach group Horseshoe Gang shortly after the relase of their album “Anti-Trap Music”

They spoke at length about a variety of subjects beginning with the meaning behind the album title and the concept that large areas of hip hop today has moved away from carrying any real message of note.

The discussion moved on to their song “Shoe-icide Squad”, quoted by some as a modern day “Fuck The Police”, and the incident involving Chicago’s Laquan McDonald who was shot and killed by police is debated in the context of their single. The subject then moves to the years they’ve operated as a group, comparing that to most others who inevitably break up as the urge to fly solo becomes too strong, whereas the four brothers see their future as a unit.

The feature also sees them outline the knowledge passed down to them by their elder brother Crooked I while they go into some of the finer detail behind their well documented rap battle with Hopsin’s Funk Volume.

Rescheduled from a couple of weeks ago when the station had to come offline temporarily, New Jersey’s Riq da Kid, Tru Trilla and Prince Ak – aka 050 Boyz – will be dropping into Brooklyn’s GID Radio studios this Friday September 25th to appear as guests on the Bodega Cold Kutz show.

Hosts DJ Joe Bodega, Jay Drilla and J2ThaMar have had many top names through their doors and often film the show which is then uploaded to youtube shortly afterwards. The show broadcasts live from 5pm – 8pm EST and you can listen online at www.gidradio.com

In another slight change, the group were then due to appear on DJ Premier’s LFHQ show on Sirius XM later the same evening, however as Premo has a last minute committment elsewhere, it has been delayed for just one week until Friday October 2nd.
